Hey, is water cooling really worth it? I heard it's a bitch to handle
If you're a retarded ricer fag or you're autistic about fan noise then maybe. Otherwise not in the slightest. Fans are good enough for everything that isn't extreme overclocking and overclocking performance increases are pretty pathetic all thjngs considered.
Put an ice pack right on top of your CPU. :^)
not really. It's only useful for crazy overclocking. A good air cooler will handle most cases for much less money
hey /g/uys.. im sorta confused..
i cant remember installing cygwin on my laptop, and i actually started to learn more about linux just recently (a month ago or so), yet the date modified shows up as 31/10/2014...so its there for quite some time. i dont really use bash in general so i have no idea as to why i have this program. how could i trace back the installation (which user, when, how) ? are there any clues as to how the application is used without my consent?
are there any programs that could be associated with cygwin and thus being installed as part of them..?
sorry...

>VRAM is technology, so...
I have a GTX960 4GB OC (pic related) and I wonder...
What is happening when you try to use the last 2GBs of VRAM on this card when it has only 128bit bus? See, on GTA V, on default settings, it sets almost everything on ultra and it takes around 2200MB - already somewhat passed that limit, but works perfectly fine on locked 60FPS.
IF I turn some more settings up, I get ~ 3200MB/4000MB of usage. So this looks like it is perfectly fine and it has plenty of VRAM left - but the bus is small. And when...

You're hitting the actual GPU performance wall long before you even utilize all that VRAM. If Nvidia didn't make a reference spec for 4GB then its a board partners design. There may be applications that can utilize all the VRAM without raping the GPU, but most videogames will rape both and the 960 simply was not designed for 4 GB VRAM.

AINT DAT SHIT 3.5 NIGGA?
holy fucking shit /g/
i just went to order a 390 for my new build and literally four(4) times in a row it sold out while i was in checkout
ALL of these cards sold out just in the past few hours
what the fuck. i'm assuming this is because of nvidia not announcing pascal at GTC today, so all the people that have been waiting for months decided to just go with an r9 390
i didn't want to go with xfx or powercolor so i went with an asus 390x for my new build. i hope i don't regret but i kind of already do
>>53888671
subbed :)
>>53888958
it's less about me and more about how fast they sold out after nvidia disappointed everyone at GTC today
Probably has something to do with the Vive/Rift being released too
Are these good for anything anymore?
>>53888648
if they were good for anything before, what happened that made them not good for anything?
They're pretty good at storing music and playing it back.
I had one of those RED ones and the battery died. What a shame.
>>53888648
You do need a device just for music?
No because you a smartphone? Then yes they are useless to many people
I have a programming job interview this week for a job where I would be doing work with Python. Any advice on how to prepare? Really any knowledge about programming interviews at all would be helpful, it doesn't have to be Python-specific.
>>53888556
Advice not personally but from a mate:
>they don't want a solution to any technical problem, they want to hear your thought process and the way you approach problems and how you deal with errors/mistakes
So yeah, don't give the result of X, tell they your method and why you did what you did to get X.
Are they still doing fizzbuzz or did they realize everyone basically has a solution memorized?
>>53889309
Fizzbuzz is just a small joke really.
Makes sure that they aren't audaciously pretending to know how to program.
Is this a good build? What's the most you would pay for it.
500
It's a cool gaymer build.
Lift up our arms and "raise the roof". You deserve it.
>>53888508
>amd cpu
You couldn't pay me to take it off your hands tbqhpham
So was Google Glass one of the most overhyped pieces of tech in history? No-one even remembers that it exists. Everyone is talking about VR, hoLOLens and GoPro, and I haven't seen or heard anyone talk about Glass in at least a year.
>>53888423
it looks dumb and the only remotely cool thing it did was live stream some surgeries.
>>53888423
why did you add gopro to that list..?
>>53889925
Which could have been the sole function of the device. Instead hipster millennial faggots go to bars and movie theaters looking like the douches they are and claim 1st amendment to record people in public.
I hate hipster millennial faggots.
I'm coming to 4chan because this is always my last resort for tech questions. I decided it was a good idea, about 2 hours ago, to download KingRoot and root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (SM-T210R), which froze my screen at "20% Rooting..." until up to 30 minutes ago. I have now disconnected the battery thing from the back and put it back in, as this is a hard reset for it. It is now giving it a trickle charge and I'm not sure if it's going to be working properly when it comes back on; am I going to be able to flash stock recovery via ODIN when it turns back...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>53888274
1. Stupid questions thread.
2. Assuming download mode still works, yes you can reflash stock via ODIN. It's very likely the root failed and your device still works fine, though.
In my experience, you're fine, ODIN can fix it, but why didn't you flashed a custom recovery first?
Twrp via ODIN can root your device too.
>>53888274
Kingroot is fucking AIDS, if you really have to use a one-click rooter, use Kingoroot. It's still AIDS but not as bad.
Should I use a VPN in America? I want to use popcorn time, but I've read it can be tracked. Can someone recommend a VPN?
>>53888252
as far as i know CyberGhost VPN is pretty good, and its free.
but im not an expert in this field so someone else could probably tell you better
On a similar note, is there anything wrong with using private internet access?
I bought a year's subscription last October it just recently seemed like they started slowing me down.
Look up: That One Privacy Guy's VPN Comparison Chart
I've recently been experianceing a lot of strain in my right wrist which I am assuming is from using the mouse. what does /g/ use to get around issues like this.
I work on a computer 40 hours a week, if not more and never have wrist issues. A brace might possibly help, or changing your grip occasionally. How are you resting your wrist?
My wrist used to hurt all the time until I got this thing. I think I could have bought another one since the one I had was too small, but whatever.
>>53888318
Seconded.
Are these worth a fuck? I'm in the market for some non-noise isolating earbuds that don't suck and won't rip my bank account a new asshole. Seems like all I can reasonably find are noise-isolating ones. Some people say these are decent, but y'know, apple. Any input?
>>53888201
They're OK. Nothing great though. I use them for running/biking.
>>53888201
It's a high quality Apple product, of course it's "decent".
>>53888201
No they're not unless you got them bundled with a phone. Spend 5 minutes researching and you'll find a better, cheaper pair.
I don't get it, /g/uys.
I'm about to build my server room for my house.
What's the point of an ethernet punch down patch panel like seen in the pic?
Why not crimp the individual wires and simply plug them into the switch?
Is it just to save money on modular plugs? Or maybe so that you can switch from one plug to another later (why wouldn't simple modular plugs get that done in the first place)?
I patch panel can accommodate a wide variety of different devices. A switch can not.
Because it's best practice, it's easier to troubleshoot certain problems, and it looks nicer.
>>53888223
Pretty much this. I've worked in environments where there are hundreds of Ethernet cables coming in to one cabinet. If the wires were just going directly into the switches it would be a giant mess. It would look awful and near impossible to troubleshoot, as there would be a spaghetti field of cable.
