Hi /g/rills, I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to a modern i7 for cpu-based rendering purposes.
I was tempted to go with a 5820K but the PCI lane limitation dissuaded me a bit, so I'm leaning towards the 5930K, in case I desire to go with dual GPUs at some point in its lifespan.
The question is, this shit is getting older every minute, around when should I expect to see a successor to this chip, a 6930K? Would you say it's worth waiting for or should I just pull the trigger on the 5930K?
Pull the trigger on a gun to your head
Go the fuck back to /v/

this is my first time ever making a website for someone
used CodeIgniter MVC, PHP, MySQL, and bootstrap
It feels good that the website has come out so well but fuck me every time my boss asks me about a CSS error I die inside.
Use some kind of grid "framework" like bootstrap if you responsive design is a hard requirement
Make sure you understand the box model, and use body * { box-sizing: border-box; }
>is it bad that I am better at PHP than I am with CSS?
No it's not, CSS is a shitfest and no normal person will actually learn it without being coerced
Has anyone tried out this Linux package manager? It's the one used by Void Linux.
What do you all think about it?
My number one concern when looking at Linux distros is which package manager they are using, so this thread is about XBPS primarily.
However, feel free to give your thoughts on void linux as well.
Just going to bump this once for a second chance since there's probably not a lot of people here who have tried this distro.
>>53912914
Void Linux is my daily driver. It's really nice, if a bit weird at times. The wiki is kinda strange but I just use the arch wiki because it's the same pretty much. I have only had a few problems but I fixed them pretty quickly.

xbps is a great package manager, but it's naming conventions for packages aren't standard so you might have to you'd xbps-query to look it up.

What's the BMP of video formats?
Speaking of, what's the best image format and why's it BMP?
>>53911810
but that's a lossy codec
>>53911626

BMP is to images as WAV is to audio, yes?
I guess the closest equivalent for video would be FFV1.
If you wanted more compression:
PNG is to images as FLAC is to audio, and x265 @crf 0 is the same for video.
>>53911822
ffmpeg -i * -c:a copy -c:v ffv1 out.mkv
or
ffmpeg -i * -c:a copy -c:v libx265 -crf 0 out.mkv
done

Why does everyone on /g/ seemingly hate Windows 10 so much? I genuinely think it's a good product. All the silly rumors about spyware/botnet are straight up lies created by idiot paranoids.
Windows 10 is the safest operating systsem on the market today, with features like smartscreen filter, applocker, cloud-based windows defender, and an improved updates system that ensures no computer stays unpatched and vulnerable.
Additionally, the whole telemetry paranoia is off the charts. They doesn't any personal info and it's only used to fix the bugs. Would you rather give one of the oldest and most reputable American software companies a small bit of info on how you use your computer, or would you rather help provide your entire identity and all your files to cybercriminals?
There is also a lots of other good improvements in Windows 10 like the new Edge Browser, built in appstore, memory compression, DirectX 12, and Cortana assistant. So many good things in Windows 10 but elitist idiots stick to 10 year old windows 7 saying its safer and better. LOL its 2016. Please tell me im not the only person here with even the slightest sense of rationality.

Hey /g/uys, I use an app called Musei for my Android that updates my phone's wallpaper and lockscreen with a different painting every day. Are there are any good programs for linux that will do the same thing, auto-update my wallpaper from some artsy, curated group of wallpapers?
>>53911262
No.

The most chilling part of the article, for me personally, is:
[Feinstein and Burr are both working on a new bill to limit the use of encryption in consumer technology, expected to be made public in the weeks to come.]
equally chilling is:
Just days after the FBI broke into the terrorist's iPhone, the FBI told law enforcement agencies it would assist them with unlocking phones and other electronic devices

Anyone here have experience with PSPICE? All I want to do is change the base-emitter voltage parameter that turns on a BJT. For the life of me I cannot find that parameter name anywhere. Starting to think it isn't possible.
