What's a better investment ? an additional monitor for a dual monitor setup or a 3/4 TB hdd for media storage.

Unironic question: have you ever actually seen a single Linux server in a company?
I've been in IT for almost 30 years now and I've never seen anything but Windows (and NetWare a long time ago, but only Windows these days) on business servers.
I mean, I like Linux, and I fiddle with it at home, but that's it.
>inb4 muh web http apache
I'm talking about enterprise services like directory, e-mail, database, network policy, etc.
Pic unrelated.
>>53916640
Yes
Sure.
It depends where you are though and what they are doing with the servers. MS still hold 30% server marketshareand are used for mail, stores and other various other things. For example Red Hat the only pople in Linux making big money use Windows to power their website and store, all the stackexchange/overflow sites which are probably biggest linux resource are all hosted on Windows IIS.
You usually find Linux servers where it's needed to be cheap, many instances up very quickly and it's allowed to have it nuked regularly and and re-span an image...

and even then these few windows instances in the sea of linux one where hosted in vm under linux

i borked boot sector .. or made a crucial drive unbootable .. had left it some time then got onto crucial, very efficently, with drive serial # .. they knew who I was & instantly dispatched a replacement drive
impressed - recommends crucial - that was a 64gb m series drive. have used it subsequently for a long time without any problems zippy
>>53916465
20€ more expensive, but I keep it in my product list. Thanks!

My MBP is on it's way out. I've been thinking about a replacement, but decided on a Hackintosh build. For the same price as a new MBP I can buy a rig & a windows laptop. Means I get the best of both worlds: a OSX work environment & able to play PC games (which I've not done in a long time.)
Probably going to build something similar to: http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/136386-storks-entry-level-hector-build-ga-h97n-wifi-i5-4690-hd4600-gtx-750-ti.html but with a 960 gfx card instead, because I like the idea of a mini-IDX, it fits the budget and...

I'd love to make a hackintosh next time I build a PC. I'm not an autist that hates every OS, I like parts of them all. Maybe I should look to keep my hardware compatible.
Sounds nice, but why not just build a standard CustoMac instead?
>>53916241
There's a list of hardware on this site: http://www.tonymacx86.com/building-customac-buyers-guide-march-2016.html truthfully it'll be the first time I built a rig in about 10 years, so I don't really have a clue about the hardware side of things these days.
>>53916255
I mean it sort of is one of the Customacs - the deluxe mini. I just really like the mini-IDX formfactor, although something larger might be more practical.
Making an app in android studio for the play store, is there any easy way to have it be cross platform for apple as well?
>>53916172
Not if you're using Java/AS. Look into Xamarin and Visual Studio if you wanna do cross platform

its the bing toolbar for internet explorer!
Why do these pickup so much electrical interference for? I.e. Pops and crackles from turning on fans, lights and powerline networking adapters. The X230s I had, had no problems what so ever!

You can pick up a Boss ground loop isolator on Amazon for around $8. Uses RCA connectors and works good.
Hey /g/ I have a question, do you think i should upgrade to windows 10? I have Windows 8 right now. I really only use my computer for steam and browsing the web, listening to music and such. I sometimes pirate games/application as well. Im not sure if pirating is of any concern but i'd like to know if you think i should upgrade.
>>53915825
Windows 10 has no advantage over windows 8. If you hate the start screen, then install classic shell.
>>53915825
Upgrade to 8.1 and don't move from there.

To what extent is google image result order entirely cooked by google?
We've known google cooks its erotic results in English and many other languages for a long time, but never with Japanese.
Now it seems they also cook politically sensitive results.
Case in point: this google search for "Islam" vs. "イスラム" ("Islam" in Japanese)
And aside from just learning Japanese, are there any truly impartial (i.e. image order/selection based on an algorithm) image search?
Duck duck go is typically the go to search engine on /g/ (or at least it was), but they just get a result from Google which isn't effected by your search history. It's essentially the same as incognito mode except without Google having a computer to match the searches to.
Not to say that google doesn't interfere with the data, they do
But Islam and イスラム are NOT the same search term despite having the same meaning, and it's totally unsurprising that they reveal different results
>>53916009
duckduckgo is closed source (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DuckDuckGo) , use searx

or host your own instance
