Why would gamers ever use Linux? Free software philosophy is antithetical to video games. 99% of all video games are proprietary and closed source and are distributed through closed source app stores with tons of DRM and spying, so you're never going to get gamers to give a shit about free software, or even open source. Secondly, gamers spend hundreds of dollars on games, so saving 100 dollars by not buying Windows isn't exactly a huge selling point, especially when all most gamers need is Home Edition. Titles and hardware are also lacking in Linux, which could change...

A software engineer in my team doesn't know how to clean up her computer filled with malware. Should I get my boss to fire her?
>>54087354
Why? That's really a problem for IT, not for the engineering team.
Help your co-worker and build better friendship. If this isn't related to the work itself, then there is nothing wrong with not knowing how to remove malware on computers. Software engineering is not IT support.

What cheap Chink tech have you bought, and would you recommend it?
Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on eBay, AliExpress, Gearbest and similar sites.

I don't really care.
But that one "chinese shit" autist always makes shit OPs and duplicate threads.
So I bought these. The rubber on it stinks way too much, and the left one has a pretty rough surface with a lot of friction on it so it's not really great for moving your mouse much around. Can overcome the smell with a bunch of perfume. Overall I do not recommend buying such mouse pads.
>tfw Windows 10 is faster on your MacBook than Mac OS
Well duh, why don't you upgrade to OS X instead of using 1-9?
>>54085587
>>54085587
It'll also run the battery down much quicker. It's faster because it doesn't underclock the Cpu, which os x does aggressively since they can't sell laptops with 1.5 hours battery life (that's being generous)
No /guts/ thread?
>>54081597
Looks pretty awesome. 9/10 I'd only give you deductions for not doing a custom water cooling loop and the case badge.
I wish I went mini ATX like you did, or even ITX. I have no use for all of these PCI-e slots.
I'll be getting a Pascal card as soon as they come out, otherwise this is my first build and I love it. I built it about a year ago (March 2015) with a 750 ti -> used 760 -> 960.

I hated it for years and years. But after I lived long enough to have bought my 3rd laptop I stopped caring. Figured, fuck it, I might as well put some stickers on here.
I just don't let my the stickers be obnoxious. The only one of OPs that doesn't make me cringe is the debian logo.

-If you dislike a headphone suggestion, try giving a better suggestion to whomever asked instead of going "hurr, brand x sucks"
-If you see someone getting mad for no appearent reason, heavily shilling/bashing a brand/reviewer etc, just ignore it.
-Feel free to share your headphones/setup and talk from personal experience, but try to couple your subjective opinions with objective data if the discussion asks for it.

Microsoft.
With more or less C-like performance and the ability to handle anything from web backend to desktop applications, Node.js is clearly the future of programming.
Node.js also has what is probably the largest and most innovative open-source community to date and it is even supported by the Linux Foundation: it is Torvalds approved.
Node.js has already made PHP obsolete, what is the next language it will conquer? Java?
Discuss Node.js.
>importing one-liners
lolnode
>>54087080
>With more or less C-like performance
Node.js is a framework, not a language. Languages don't have "performance", implementations of them do.
>Node.js is clearly the future of programming
But it's awful for CPU-bound tasks.
>>54087095
Same could be said for any library or framework ever.
