Election is coming up soon and I am wondering if there are any parties genuinely working towards better internet infrastructure in our country?
Personally I think the only real solution at the moment is to break up telstra.
>uncle works for Telstra
>use Optus
/devilish/
Bumping as I want to know too~
>>54319583
The internet infrastructure is never going to get better. Also thanks for reminding me of Metadata retention.
>>54319583
>any parties genuinely working towards better internet infrastructure
Pirate Party, Greens, Labor. Although Labor might need a kick in the pants to properly ditch FttN and go back to their original plan. Really just about anyone who isn't LNP affiliated.
>only real solution is to break up telstra
This was part of the original NBN FttP plan. Telstra was going to become just another ISP owning minimal last-mile infrastructure.

>Linux still doesn't have a usable file picker.
Why do we consider Linux to be good when this shit goes on?
>his operating system has a file picker in the kernel
Disgusting.
What the fuck is a file picker?
Thumbnails work fine in icon view here. I'm using MATE.
Don't know why you would want thumbnails in list view.

Can technology replace Accounting jobs?
>being a certified public accountant instead of choosing a computer related course in life
A-am I gonna go poor /g/?
>>54319011
No, because software can fuck up, and at that point you need accountants to verify the information. Even verification algorithms could go wrong somewhere, and if you put all your trust in it, you could get in trouble with the law
>>54319011
Yes absolutely. The next generation of legislation and accounting standards regarding companies and finance will change the way accounting is taught and practised and will namely massively decrease the number of human actors required to manage the books of large scale organizations. The writing is on the wall.
>>54319032
You are fucking retarded.
Software can easily replace an accountant if it doesn't replace them in 5 years I will be shocked. Turbotax alone saves me more time then an accountant.
This is where you ask... Stupid questions?
Anyways. I am having trouble with my desktop computer. The cpu fan and chassis fan have recently began to spin extremely fast, with no clear reasoning as to why. I think it is a problem with the mother board, as it starts spinning fast every boot despite changing the settings to not spin so fast. Trying to adjust with speed fan, or Asus suite 3 does no good. What can I do to fix this? The motherboard model is an h 81 M-K
A friend of mine droped water in my wireless router. After drying it, it works, but the wifi signal is extremely weak.
Can somebody explain this?
Can i fix it or should i buy another router?
Thanks in advance familiares

Can you control fans in BIOS?
Are you sure it's not because your CPU is under load?

My grandfather worked at IBM from the 60s-80s, and he left me his hand built prototype 5150 when he died, because he knew I loved computers.
Before I went away for college, I packed it gently and put it in my closet, writing on all sides "Very valuable, do not touch."
I came home a few days ago, the house was cleaner than normal,
"Oh yes Anon, we're showing it so we cleaned up a bit."
Go up to my room, the box is gone; look up in the attic, there's almost nothing.
"Where...

Hey /g/. What are your best horror stories of having to fix a parent/grandparent's PC?
>>54317246
I opened a few browsers and found about half the number of toolbars in this pic. Also uninstalled a dickload of Malware.
Sidenote, anybody know why people install Chrome and Firefox on their PC? Seems redundant desu.
>>54317463
I use Chrome most of the time but I keep Firefox around so I am able to download .7z files from untrusted sources since Chrome won't let me.
>>54317246
if there's no way to avoid fixing it I just make them copy documents or whatever on a separate drive or usb drive and then I just format, fuck everything up. Fire from the sky and start anew.
How can a single person even write 1.7 million lines of code on his/her own?
Are even simple GUI applications getting out of reach of normal programmers nowadays?
>>54316803
Copy and paste.
Code lines are a shitty measure because you can end up with a lot of one or two character lines and empty lines just in making your code readable.

What went wrong?
Why did Linux never take-off and remains just a hobbyist thing?
To be honest, I think it didn't take off because it doesn't have the average consumer in mind; hence why Windows is so popular.
Linux OS's are more for the technologically-inclined people.
Because it's shit
Windows 10 is the best operating system, is that what you wanted to hear?
Linux sucks, it's shit, no one uses it, everyone who does it just an autistic NEET
Considering the non consumer oriented areas like server, workstations, embedded linux is unbeatable, Microsoft really understood they can't quite compete with it so they now play along, offering it in Azure and now with bash on W10.
If you only have the shitty consumer market in mind then you should leave this board.
