Good brand hard drive?
I recently had a seagate drive fail on me and I was wondering what would be a quality brand replacement. I am going for something 3TB or over if that helps.
Also, is it true that if I stick it in the freezer I can get some of my data back? and is there a certain tool set that would be good for recovery? I get the beep of death
I feel like there is an image around here somewhere
I think Hitachi is good. Toshiba a shit

Reading a book while trying not to fall asleep at my desk
I picked up this bash line on 4chan somewhere. I love it, and maybe someone else can use it.
It downloads all the pics/webms/gifs in a thread.wget -q -O - $link | sed "s/>/>\n/g" | grep "eThum" | cut -d ' ' -f 3 | sed -e "s/href=\"/http:/g;s/.$//" | wget -q -i -

Stop! no cleaning up. Post a picture of the windows you have open on your desktop right now! If you clean up first you MUST donate $5 to the electronic frontier foundation to reclaim your posting honor
>>54385385
this is not your desktop right now. You have failed to follow directions and must donate $5 to the electronic frontier foundation.
aria has a nice ed
and what can I do to stop it?
There's a way to put a password on it. Also don't let other people touch your computer.
All Unices have a single user mode. And no, you want to have it.
It could save your ass in your future.

it's called "firmware password" and you use the install media
So this usually happens when I try to see archived threads on 4chan, but I see this happen in other places too. What is it and what can I do to get rid of it? I use a Nexus 7(2013 tablet) with Marshmallow in it.

What?
What's the best Linux DE? Currently using GUH-nome as my daily driver.
Anything that uses Qt.
>>54383092
Isn't that kind of low level to matter to the end user?
>>54383187
It might seem like it, but Qt provides a level of high-level widgets (for example the web-browser component etc.) that definitely affect user-experience.
There's also the Phonon backend etc. which makes media display much easier and more stable (imho) than with gtk.

What makes curses apps so comfy?
What are your favorite curses apps?
>>54382069
>What makes curses apps so comfy?
its the lack of bloat
>>54382199
Not to mention that it just sits on top of whatever theme you're using without fail.
>>54382069
Elinks is pretty good. I use it when I need to do quick searches and Firefox takes a while. I have a really shit desktop.
Writing curses apps requires so much boilerplate
