hei guis
Few years back I did a thing called "redpage", was basically a blank html page with an input form at the top, where anything you slap into it gets inserted plaintext into the bottom of the HTML document. It'd always quickly become a clusterfuck and I had to clear the page every 5 minutes or so but it was fun as fuck. Anyone remember that? Would anyone be interested in something like that again?
id rather get 15 min with ur mom
Wow, I actually do. That's been a long time anon. Theres that other older website where it has a huge map where you can write or draw whatever. Good memories man.
Why's Linux different from Windows or Mac if it's just an operating system?
I see /g/ talking about it all the time, so what makes it worth using? I know the source code is open, but I don't know how to program so that doesn't really mean much.

The design philosophy is that you are in charge so you can treat the system however you want to. With Windows and OS X you use it according to how corporate wants you to use it - if you don't like Cortana, you have to just suck it up or work behind your system's back because it will actively prevent you from trying to disable it. With Linux, you just remove it and install something else, because it is your computer and you're allowed to use it how you want to use it.
>>54318523
Linux is not an operating system. Linux is a kernel. The kernel on Windows is NT. Tech illiterates get this wrong every day.
Did Mozilla just resign all of its addons for some reason? Firefox wants to update nearly all of my addons, I checked a couple out and the only differences are version numbers (eg "9.1-signed" becomes "9.1-signed.1-signed"), MD5/SHA checksums, and mozilla.rsa.
What purpose? Shenanigans?
no updates for meme
Mozilla does this every other update.
>>54318496
What's weird is the seem to have appended a ".1-signed" to the end of every version string, even if it already had one.
What would it take to get 4chan to raise $62 million to send something really stupid to Mars? SpaceX just added "send 4,020 kg to Mars" to their public price list.

Think about it. We could send 8,000 pounds of assorted bacteria samples to be released into the air to try and make the Red Planet just that much more exciting for future explorers.
Or maybe just scatter live cockroaches all over the planet.

They would instantly die. Extremely thin air and high ultraviolet levels.

Daily reminder that the Mid-2012 non-Retina Macbook Pros are the last good Macbooks Apple made. The Retina models all cuck you out of upgradeability and ease of maintenance, are far less affordable compared to a maxed out non-Retina for relatively small performance gains, and are more prone to throttling and overheating.
>>54318387
>upgradeability
8/256gb are plenty for a mobile device.
>ease of maintenance
Which you rarely need if at all.
>far less affordable
Try having a job.
> performance gains
Almost any laptop from 2012 on has enough performance, who cares about that. Better screen and battery life make rMBP a no brainer.
>>54318387
I would agree, shame they're fucking $800 second hand here and like $1600 new.
>>54318387
>more prone to throttling and overheating.
Retinas have much better cooling, nice try.
Is there any current tuning car game that is available on PC, not pay2win, and not made by a shit company?
Will there ever be another premium ricer experience like NFSU2, or was the tunuing car subgenre just a cash in on the Fast and Furious movie franchise all along?

1 selfish bump. Maybe it's cause it's 2AM EST here. Maybe that's why no one is around
Fl studio 12, been on it for the past 2 years. Been into music for the past 4 or so. I play with drum and bass/neurofunk the most, and I think I'm best at it. Thought about changing to ableton, but didn't like the workflow. I use Sytrus a lot, it's a great fm vst, and yeah, I see myself doing this for a really long time, even if I get nowhere

Scored one of pic related for free. What can I do with it? I'm aware that it's an old system, but what does /g/ think? It's the last G5 made; pretty much maxed out.
Anyone here still using one of these, or other PowerPC based systems?
If the hardware isn't worth using I'll put a modern build inside, because I've always loved that case.
It's a great computer, I don't have the G5 but I have a 2008 Mac Pro
Modern builds are perfect for it, but you can still do some work on it
I got one of those as a seedbox/NFS server. Runs gentoo. Never had a problem

absolute shit. There are distos out there, but for some fucking reason none of them ever managed to install properly, and if they ever did, then they just outright refused to boot. I gave up on that real quick

Version 10.4.11 will blaze through it, but program support is even more limited. 10.5.6 is the last version it'll handle. Its more bloated...

Help?

bump
>>54318100
OP here, solved it.
Turns out it has to do with cookies, if you close both ads with the x button, they dissappear for good. This only works if you dont clean the website cookies once you close firefox.
Just in case anyone wants to know.
ublock origin has element hiding, which should be something you always have available as you browse the web
which is better?
>>54317995
they are both good in what they do.
Which is two different things.
I don't get to choose the format when I download my Chinese cartoon porn, and frankly I don't care.
They are only containers of media.
mkv is an open standard that can hold unlimited number of video, audio, subtitle, etc channels
MP4 is not
Which do you think is better?
How do I get into the cool, hip world of HTML5 game programming?
I know HTML and Javascript, but I don't know much about working that into an HTML5 game; and apparently CSS (Which I've forgotten how to use) can replace a lot of the usage of Javascript for HTML5.
>>54317871
You must first read your SICP and develop an OS written entirely in HTML/CSS.
>>54317871
Most HTML5 game programming is probably just about writing pixel data to a canvas.
>>54317871
Read SICP and install Gentoo
You may then begin programming using your IBM model M

Actually I work for a company that does make their own software and hardware for wireless devices using non-licensed radio bands.
I don't know why you think it's profitable. It's really not.
