How do I remove this annoying sticker?!!???
What's annoying about it?
get a razor blade and cut it, then yourself
without breaking it and voiding warranty?
Hello linux users.
I've been using Ubuntu as my main OS for 6 months but I can't find any good DAW's for Linux. Wine is shit, can't run Ableton or FL Studio with low latency.
I need a reason to keep using Linux instead of Windows.
Arguments like:
>botnet
>enjoy your spyware
>enjoy your "x"
>GNU/Linux copypasta
don't count

SO YOU JUST HAVEN'T HEARD OF BITWIG
WELL YOU SHOULD TRY BITWIG
BITWIG WAS DESIGNED BY DISGRUNTLED ABLETON EMPLOYEES, IT'S PRETTY SIMILAR, EXCEPT THE FINE MODULATION AND AUTOMATION ABILITIES ARE EASILY, EASILY THE BEST IN EXISTENCE RIGHT NOW. FOR REAL. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it....

last time i used Ubuntu was like v4.xx
back then i used to use VM for pretty much everything. Kinda grew bored of lack of stuff on it so went back to windows, dont care about botnet or anything. Like M$ would track someone from a 3rd world country in europe kek.
Anyways no regrets and im using W10 right now. I do occasionally miss using Ubuntu, the 3d cube desktop was a cool feature.
why do people keep saying CS degrees are useless? Genuinely curious if they are right or not because I hear it so much.
I'm not sure how most CS degrees work but i was under the assumption that:
1.) you learn more than what someone would learn on their own and because of this would get a better paying job than just being a code monkey.
2.) Even if you wanted to be a code monkey some places would much prefer someone with a degree.
Am I wrong?
also can anyone think of other potential reasons that a degree in CS is valuable?
CS degrees are not useless. They might be a poor return on investment depending on how much you pay for tuition but you'll come out a better person.
>falling for the CS meme

CS graduates get decent paying jobs. But just like other STEM courses you will have to do shit outside classes to get good at it.

What's the superior solution from a developer point of view?
A dozen of small, cheap to make unrelated tools that only solve one small specific problem.
A general solution that does the same all those dozen unrelated tools make but in a nice one big package.
I learned the hard true by experience after three years of being a self taugh programmer.
Which ever is the quickest to learn.
>>54322313
we're talking about an original solution from scratch.
we're talking about developing software anon.
>>54322323
How about knowing enough about what you're doing that the tools don't matter, as should be the case
I'm applying for a job and they're saying I need to know AGILE
What is AGILE, and is it dynamically or statically typed?
>>54322115
It's when you program while running with your arms stretched behind you
>>54322115
SDLC?
>>54322115
Agile is a project management methodology
>I want to be an idea guy. There's this super awesome idea for a game that will make me millionaire, it's like skyrim mixed with minecraft, grand theft auto and five nights at freddies. I don't know how to program or do art btw but my ideas will take me far.
>>54322019
I'll be the team lead! We'll need 10 graphics programmers, 10 regular programmers and 10 graphics artists. None of you guys will be paid, but we will all share the profit
There is nothing wrong with the code in the OP

It's written in Java you donkey
Got my first interview tomorrow in a tech company as a web dev. any tips, /g/ ? Bit scared, but excited at the same time.
>>54322005
Try and be a bit creative with your answers
Really push your portfolio
Look attentive and enthusiastic
that's all I did and got in easy
>>54322005
What's your qualifications? Do you have a portfolio? What's on it?
>>54322005
Just remember interviews are more about you fitting in socially with the company than skills. CV gets you the interview, social skills get you the job.
Best of luck OP.
Well, it happund /g/. My HDD died, and now I'm attempting to salvage whatever is left to get. 600GB's of vidya, stranded on poorly managed platters. It'll take too long to re-download it. So I'm copying it all off with the crippled read speeds. Going off these last 4 percent. I've calculated it will take 8.75 days to transfer it all off. I'm hoping some of the files aren't corrupt.
Why can't I just be dead. Data recovery, Drive crash horror stories, and SSD advocacy thread. GO!
You're one stupid motherfucker for trying to move all at once.
>>54321860
I know. But I don't want 6 hours of work to go to waste.
its going to fail anyway and you will have to start all over again.
Hello /g/, is the PC you built/bought solely for gaming, worth it ?
I never had a PC solely for gaming.
My PC has gaming + hardware, so I can do other things outside of gaming.
Just started using vivaldi. Its actually really good

Do they really still use Video CDs in China?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7PbQTlv5ig
I know the Chinks are poor, but don't be stuck in the fucking 90s.
>>54321666
It seems like they are. VCD are counterfeit copies, be 100% sure about it.
>>54322543
Are you sure?
They seem like retail releases for the Chinese market.

>>54322673
Ok, ok, I don't know for sure. But consider this:
1) Even in 3rd world countries DVDs are being deprecated, it's hardly possible to find a pirated DVD now, everybody is moving to a Blu-Ray.
2) Those VCDs doesn't look like retail copies: no booklets, no ads, no nothing. I may agree it's all about cutting the cost, but come on.
3) Colors on VCD are washed out, it looks like a camrip. Maybe it isn't the case, but I feel like quality should be better for a retail copy. I have seen better...

Shit. Instantly trashed, that's where hipster garbage belongs
It's pretty shit.
After about a week and a half I went straight back to Arch Linux.
My country Tunisia, is considered more like a toddler since its government has been reconstructed from scratch. Our national airlines company Tunisair is still undeveloped. Me and a bunch of friends are willing to change some things regarding the firm. Some of which include the logo, the name, the hostess outfits and even some suggestions with the fleet. The upgrade package will be sent to the firm and will probably be accepted. We already have a logo suggestion (the sample) and we need some livery designs. any volunteers.
You can start with a 787-8
>>54321618
How is this /g/ related?
>design the logo and livery
Oh that's OK then
Don't you have some kindergartens to blow up, mudslime?
So whats the best compiler and ide to use for learning c++
>>54321532
I just use Vim w/t plugins as a C/C++ Ide.
Compiler... I like Clang but I never really researched compilers much.
>>54321532
your options are pretty much: g++ or clang for the compiler
i recommend g++
the best IDE highly depends on how much time do you want to spend learning it. I recommend emacs as a golden middle choice
>>54321532
dev c++
as a beginner you'd want something that just works
