UWP 4Chan app for Windows 10 when?
I want to use 4chan on my Windows 10 tablet ;_;
Chrome a shit for multitouch
>>54326385
If you've got a Windows 10 tablet with a decent atom processor, why not just use it in browser? Don't need apps anymore.
>>54326429
apps are more comfy. The new facebook and messenger apps are great and I feel somgood with multi tasking swipes
>>54326514
>tfw we could easily have websites that behave like this if only faggit CEO shitcucks didn't go full "WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE IE 8 USERS".
Why are these things called "smartphones" and not "palmtops", "pocket computers" or "handhelds"?
>>54326381
They used to be just phones, you 18 year old fool. Then they added cameras, then mp3 features etc until it came to the device you now call a "smartphone".
>>54326381
Americans have always been retarded when it comes to naming things.
>American "Football"
Rugby with padding and periodic rests
>automobile
It's a fucking car
>"Band-Aid", "Kleenex", "ChapStick"
Just call them plaster, tissue paper, and lip balm instead of some brand name
>>54326381
>not calling them PDA+modem
I'm thinking of trying this out so I can have Linux desktop + muh gaymes. Anyone here done this? What's your experience?
>>54326338
Haven't done it myself, but everything I've read is that it does work, but is the very opposite of easy and plug-and-play.
>>54326338
There is no "Linux Desktop". Linux is just a kernel.
>>54326437
Yeah, these guides look complex, but I think I'm up to it.

Daily reminder to clean your phone
Thanks.
I do this daily when I step out of the shower, and sometimes when I get home from work.
I also wipe down my computer, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and monitor on a weekly basis.
I believe in taking care of your tech.
>>54326213
I clean as necessary. Back of my iPhone had those little dirt streaks so I knew it was time.
>>54326187
Just did that yesterday
don't forget to clean your mouse too
What's a good budget Laptop for high quality Porn streaming and browsing?

How do you people install software over that shit Discover (Muon i guess although there nowhere mention of its name) ? It behaves so fucking retarded. I chose to install something and it turns off, but the software I chose gets installed??lol wtf
What is the default driver manager software?
>>54325712
I am using KDE Neon, nothing is fucking installed, not even file manager.
>>54325712
I just installed Arch (using Architect) and Plasma 5.6 + KDE Applications looks beautiful, nothing is behaving wrong or something like that.
>>54327693
Just wait till you have to update it. Hahahah
>install Vivaldi
>looking pretty good
>feels a lot like Opera 12.17
>Try and drag a tab to create new window
>you can't
>you have to right click the tab, go down the drop down menu and select "Move to New Window"
>tfw fell for the Vivaldi meme
This is beyond retarded. What the fuck there's no excuse for this goddamn shit.
it's not a browser, it's a fucking mess
uninstall and forget about it
>>54325506
>Trying to make multiple windows
What is this? Internet Explorer 6 era? This is why tabs were invented.
>>54325506
>One of the things that makes Vivaldi unique is that it is built on modern web technologies. We use JavaScript and React to create the user interface with the help of Node.js and a long list of NPM modules. Vivaldi is the web built with the web.

This week I made a surprising discovery, though in hindsight I guess I expected this to be the case all along. Up until mid 2015 I've been using some version of Firefox as my primary web browser, though I've experimented with a whole bunch of others.
>suddenly Q3 2015, quit job
>move to another country
>no computer, only phone

>browser using more than 512MB
chrome is bad and you should feel bad. i never go over 512MB with firefox (on linux)

>Only one problem.
Firefox has been bashed constantly on /g/ since I stopped using it back in Q3 2015. People say it keeps getting worse. I start feeling uneasy. What if they're not just shilling? What if they're right?
>Windows 7 btw
Decide to try Firefox anyway.
>Want it to be fast. Will need e10s (multiprocess)
>Pick Aurora (dev edition for you newfags)
>PC complains I need administrator access.
Fuck. I knew it was too good to be true. Click cancel on the administrator popup.
>Aurora finishes installing anyways and opens.
>Mah nigga
I spent 5 minutes on Aurora, customizing it, changing the theme to light, etc. Here are my results after 2 days usage.
>ultra fast, like no lag whatsoever
>100% stable
>looks incredible. No seriously. Australis theme is gone.
tl;dr
I thought people on /g/ were bashing Firefox because it's bad. Boy was I wrong. They're just a bunch of tools shilling Chrome because it's "popular".
Fucking normies have infiltrated /g/
>>54325505
Forgot to mention, Chrome used 500MB. Aurora used 300MB, despite being multiprocess and having as many tabs open as Chrome.
I can't wait for multiprocess to come to stable channel. Firefox is still the best.

I wrote a tar implementation /g/ that is slower than GNU Tar by 400ms. I...Is.....is that bad /g/? :S
>>54325383
isn't tar just this?cat filea fileb filec > derp.tar
>>54325562
No. tar is a fucking mess. There is a total of 5 different standards, and at least 3 types of headers.
A tar file is consisted of 512 byte blocks of files+headers+fill of zeros.
Ther zeroes are needed so that total number of bytes % 512 == 0
+ all shit for some reason is in octal in the headers, so a shitton of conversion is needed, thats why mine is so slow
>>54325562
Lolnope. You're talking about concatenation. Why would we need tar if cat can do it?
I am in desperate need for a new distribution, can not stand windows meme.
Hurry before I kill my self.
just install ubuntu like everyone else that doesn't know what they're doing when they get into *nix
>>54325311
Ubuntu => botnetNo thanks man
you know best what is for you.
step one:
find the updating schedule you are comfortable with.
Like how often do you want to deal with updates?
Every day?
Every month?
Every six months?
Every couple of years?
step two:
Figure out what you expect from your package manager.
Should it enable services and write the configs as it installs or would you rather do those things yourself?
step two:
find the type of DE you think you want?
Lightweight where only the basic things are provided and you implement the rest you need or something where a lot of things is implemented and you pick and choose between what is available?
It takes a lot of trial and error and usually you come across something that fits your needs.
Ubuntu is a good starting place for most people.
It has a new release every 6 months and a stable release every 2 years.
Updating usually breaks everything, so people often just installs it all over again but you can learn to fix it so you won't have to do that.
Other popular distros are debian, fedora, opensuse and arch.
As for desktop environments, you should know what you want, but if you don't have a clue, try the different ones out and see what you think.
KDE has a lot of features and if you like graphical settings, that is probably the best DE for you.
Gnome is more focused on polish, if you want something pretty that is probably really good for you.
Mate and Xfce doesn't use as much resources and the changes happen a lot slower.
You could also build your own, but then it is important to correct people that you are using a WM, and not a DE because you are using an arbitrary subset.
Unity is the default on ubuntu which did have an online search feature, but since everyone disabled that, I wouldn't call it a botnet.
It is a bad DE for a slew of other reasons, so unless you really want to use that, just pick something else.
Scrobblers and tracking services are giving me headaches.
There are sites dedicated to music, TV, anime, manga, games, books, but none of them covers them all.
Some work scrobble-based (last.fm), not allowing to put older works you might have seen.
Some work by manual input (IMDB, MyAnimeList), but have incomplete or limited databases.
Some are browser-based, some are software.
I'm thinking it's come to a point were it'd be easier to just catalog everything offline, creating my own entries in a single sorting system for every medium.
Does...

Don't pirate software, you can get a backdoor in your OS. Remember: nothing's free in life there's always someone paying for it. If you're a student you can get a free copy of windows.
Windows has backdoors anyway.
