Asking "Hey guys, what's your opinion on x?" is frowned upon.
Wireless is frowned upon.
Headset requests are frowned upon.
Isolation ≠ Noise cancellation
If you dislike a headphone suggestion, try giving a better suggestion to whomever asked instead of going "hurr, brand x sucks"

what's subjectively the best frequency response?
I see a lot of people have different preferences on frequency responses, a lot of people love the audio quest night hawks even though they are a bit uneven in the frequency response. Is there a consensus?

Whatever you find the most enjoyable.
Is there any other alternative to a FiiO E5 or E6? I need one for my Ruizu X02 because I need more bass. I can't use EQ because it makes it sound horrible.
Hey fa/g/s, I've been getting pic related with every single torrent client except for vuze. It usually happens about 5-8 minutes after starting a torrent, and yet this only happens to clients besides shitty ass vuze. I've tried qbitorrent, utorrent 2.2.1, deluge, and transmission qt. I've read that it's a driver issue, but I recently upgraded my machine with a new mobo, ram, and cpu. This happened before that upgrade, and still happens now. I kind of doubt it's a problem with my gpu/harddrives/peripherals. Any ideas on a fix or a torrent client...

Why do phones, or android at least, get so many updates that often bring no noticeable improvements (and are rather a bunch of bug patches) while desktop OSes can go years without major updates? Did no one in google think about this when designing android?
>>54379109
You obviously have never used a desktop OS.
Yes, on the surface, Android changes a lot more than, say, Windows. But internally, Windows goes through a ton of changes all the time. They just aren't as drastic.

What is your opinion on wireless mice and keyboards?
>>54378984
I have an 11 inch laptop because I like the portability and amazing battery life. Sometimes the screen is too small for gayming and watching movies so I use an HDMI cable to connect it to my television. With a wireless mouse and keyboard I can uncontrol it from the couch. It's pretty nice.

Fucking touchscreen keyboard.
>>54378984
they used to be awful but now they are fine. Unless you are autistic about response times or key sniffing I don't see why not. Less cables everywhere is always a bonus.

I want to get on my neighbors wifi. I live in an apartment so there's several networks near by. There's a guest network that I connect to, and it asks for a password via web browser like a public wifi might do. Is there anyway I could inspect the page source and find the password in the coding? It's a Belkin network. I'm new to this board, don't kill me.
you just need to jack the mainframe and sql inject the gibson. windows blocks hacking tools, though, so delete system 32 and then install the popular hacking suite "gentoo".
>>54378478
>Is there anyway I could inspect the page source and find the password in the coding?
No, unless the tech is brain-dead.
Pay for your own internet.

Fair enough
I want to get a new computer to play games, watch video and access the internet with, but I want to also have a secure archival computer for typing and data storage not connected to the internet. I also don't want to throw down an enormous amount of money. Also viewing space is an issue since ALL LCD displays look like fucking trash (yes, fucking "LED" displays are still just shitty LCDs with a dishonest name) and I tend to only use CRT monitors because they look infinitely better, despite weight and size issues. I also want to have a full keyboard for the archival computer, not some tablet shit and I despise the shoddy keyboards of laptops. So far my ideas are:
1: Use current DT for archival computer and just buy another DT for video games, movies, internet, etc.
2: Buy a simple laptop for the archival computer and just make due with the shitty screen (which is less important for the archival computer since it's going to mostly be for word processing) and keyboard and buy a new desktop also.
Ideas? Any other suggestions?
>>54378270
wtf are you even talking about ? and what has your autistic rage against lcd displays to do with it ? it sound like you want a fileserver ?
stop the drugs, sober up again, and post again tomorrow.
>>54378464
LCD is a shit technology that plebs don't care about because they're inbred enough that they're half blind. Now what I was talking about was figuring out if should just buy another desktop for entertainment and use the current one for archival purposes or buy an entirely new computer like a laptop for that, although that might be an inferior choice - it would be portable though.

have you ever been tested for some sort of mental damage ? if not i'd suggest you'd get tested
Can someone explain in laymen's terms what "functional programming" is?
I can program in MATLAB and Java, and am considering learning Haskell but everyone keeps rambling on and on about "functional" programming.
hard to explain just like that
Both OOP and functional programming are about breaking a problem into pieces that can be then mixed together for reusability.
Only that in functional programming the data isn't encapsulated and interfaced via methods to other classes which themselves encapsulate data. The data is passed around between functions, which are the actual agents (rather than objects) that carry the actions of your program.
Functions are such objects as well. A characteristic of functional programming is first-class functions and higher order functions.

Thanks, this is interesting.
Anyone else doing this?
Since I'm moving in about 2 months I thought I might as well get rid of crap I never need and holy shit how much I accumulated.
I don't want that hipster kind of minimalism that you blog about and that actually takes more work to maintain than to just not give a shit.
I just want to get rid of bullshit. E.g. I reduced my online accounts from about 30 to less than 10 only those which I absolutely need (school, bank, email, amazon). I sold all my old DVDs, got me about 150 bucks. I even sold a packet of old fans and a broken...

Put shit in a storage locker or attic for a few months. Maybe you'll realize you aren't a materialist
