any SIMD extension amd develops will eventually lack software support and flops/$ of both intel, amd or nvidia are roughly the same. I hate to say it but buying a product which is not made by the market leader makes as much sense as left wing politics.
Little to none of the video editing software in the market supports amd's video encoding engine for example.

Also, are you retarded? Plenty of video editing software supports OpenCL acceleration, including the Adobe suite and Sony Vega, arguably the most important ones. Few of them are limited to just CUDA, and those tend to be the smaller, lesser used ones.

If AMD truly wanted traction for their extensions and OpenCL. They'd do the 'Gaywerks' method by paying/for free work with software firms to incorporate their technologies in their encoding and whatever else. Keep doing it for free till 40% of the software firms customers are AMD based hardware. Drop free support in accordance with the initial agreement to provide support and resources maintaining their technologies. And then watch as the software firms depend on it for 40% of their customers and support...

1. You don't need to go to a top 10 school. I go to a D1 state school and they're pretty decent, although they could be better.
2. Most decent/good programmers are self-taught. Don't blame school.
OK you want help to learn programming. Download Visual Studio. Learn how to code in C and/or C++. It is a good starting point. There are lots of online resources for you. You're honestly wasting your time with this community college class if this is what they are having you do. My advice...

Hey. I have used multiple FirefoxOS devices since the launch day of the os itself. Let me go straight to the point:
- OS have a lot of performance issues, lagging animations, random crashes, considering the HW capabilities - around 60% of what the same phone could do on android

Basically I got a new laptop but it's displaying dark colors like a badly compressed JPG, and I've messed around with the settings but the problem persists.

It could be a hardware issue or something else. Most likely to do with display drivers, try updating them. If not see if there are 3rd party display setting you can mess with. If both those options fail to fix it then contact the vendor to see if they have a fix.
