My friend maxed out a 27" iMac ($4.4k after taxes). He's telling me that his r9 395x is still going to be better than the 1080 that was just announced the other day.
Why can't I find benchmarks for this card specifically? Does Apple get their own specific cards from AMD and then nobody bothers to test out how they compete on the market?
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I just can't find actual comparisons online and I don't know why.
>>54448488
Its a mobile gpu.

>>54448488
An all-in-one like an iMac isn't going to have a desktop class GPU. Like >>54448518 just said, it's going to be a mobile one designed to throttle under load so the thing doesn't melt or explode
>>54448518
>>54448566
I guess I never considered that. It's really strange considering the screen is a 27" 5k display. This GPU doesn't seem like it would utilize that at all.
How many of you /g/uys and /g/irls use Google Chrome legitimately or ironically?
I unironically use it on my mostly stock work laptop. I need Windows for the software I use, and chrome is fast and reliable. I don't really care about the botnet in this case.

A surprisingly large amount of /g/ fell for it. But Firefox is still used by more /g/ents.
I use it because firefox is a laggy fuck for me. I open a new tab and that shit either freezes, stops working. I don't have the best computer it shouldn't be necessary in order to have a stable and fluid browser. Miss 3.6.
So for the last few years I have been using Windows for "muh games". But now I just don't enjoy them anymore, so I was thinking of switching fully to a linux distro. I use Ubuntu on my laptop, but I have never used it seriously on desktop. Any suggestions of distros or essential programs, or even helpful tips would be very much appreciated.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/LInux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn...

Hi, your post is off topic.
this is a thread showing different operating systems and programs being used on a daily basis
While W10 is pretty decent, i can't deal with all the bugs in the OS, the touchpad scrolling/zoom gestures don't work on metro apps, metro apps don't show up on explorer and so on, i think i'm going to go back to linux or os x again.

Any tips for buying a UPS for my battlestation? I just need my computer/monitors to stay on for a few minutes in the case of a short power outage. Thinking about getting this one. Is it a problem that this UPS has a lower wattage than my computer's power supply?
>>54448180
Buy a kill-a-watt, plug it in, test max load conditions. Or use one of those sites that guesstimate your max load.
>>54448180
it all depends on how long you need to keep it running, a 550W one won't keep you running on a gaming desktop for very long at all. Your best option is to get a used one that needs a new battery. Companies often ditch them at some point for newer higher capacity ones, you can use that to get a much better one for the same price. UPS battery stores around here also sell ones like that with new batteries and a warranty on both the unit and the battery.
>>54448565
I found the replacement batteries cost almost as much as the UPS does brand new. I ended up just buying another one ..
Finally cleaned up my XP machine, and got it up and running.
I reinstalled XP, and did the usual, but now I am missing some drivers for it.
How can I install these drivers?
The computer is a Dell Vostro 200, and since one of the missing drivers is network, I can't go on the internet.
Thanks in advance guys.

Why is Amazon so incompetent?
>incompetent
>50% of orders on the internet are made through them
>>54448097
The video cable categories are fucked, just click through each one on the left. The first couple results in every category are completely incorrect.
https://amazon.com/gp/b?ie=UTF8&node=464418
>>54448136
This has to do more with companies putting their shit up wrong. Amazon has APIs and such that allow you to set categories of products, and if you fuck it up it gets wonky. I've worked with it before.
A company like Samsung or Apple will put it up correctly, but chinks with their cheap ripoff shit wont do it correctly.

What are adblockers?
Is there a program/hardware that lets you control the treble/mid/bass etc of audio?
Pic unrelated
>>54448007
Are you stupid?
>>54448038
Does that apply it to all audio playing or only audio playing from that platform? Is there something like a dac amp or speakers that have eq controls?
>>54448396
If you can, flash Viper Audio mate
For all you geniuses saying the 1070 is faster than the titan x, that was for double float precision performance
This. Why do nvidiots believe everything they hear? Are they that much of dim consumerists?
And isn't that just because Pascal doesn't have the gimped FP64 performance?
>>54447714
>(You)
How come are they even still on the market if their products are so ridiculously overpriced?
because they're super overpriced they don't need to sell as many to continue to operate
Why are Lexus cars still on the market if you can get better performing cars for much less?
People are buying them
Ive been gaming for quite a while but ive mostly been a console fag. Ive really been wanting to build my own gaming pc, and i'd say im good with computers, but I barely know shit about part specs and stuff like that. Where can I go to learn about all this stuff? Like gpu's, cpu's, motherboards, ram, the whole lot. It's frustrating when I go in a pc building thread and I only know the names of shit.

Im in a board about tech, im gonna build a gaming pc, not talk about the games im gonna play on it.
>i'd say im good with computers, but I barely know shit about part specs and stuff like that
You are not "good" with computers. An average teenager knows more than you. Are you basing this off what your 60 y/o mother tells you or something?
