Why aren't wireless headphones more of a thing? I've never seen anyone use them; its always wired.
Is the tech just not there yet?
>>54454910
Battery life, sound quality. I bought a bluetooth speaker beanie and it has plenty of room for battery, but it's kind of a novelty.
I heard that the microwave waves from wireless headphones are not good for you are are carcinogenic so I generally stay away from them.

What are you working on, /g/?
From a performance point of view, is it worth using functional concepts in C++ for performance critical applications (such as gaymes) ?
I'm not only talking about map/reduce, but also writing pure functions, and immutable lists.
It makes me believe it involves a ton of heap usage that's a huge bottleneck in applications.
Am I right?

FUCK YOU FAGGOT
I'm working on trying to sleep, and getting depressed once again
Please do not post an anime image next time, thank you.
Something about the PreUnibody MacBook Pros/PowerBooks reminds me of ThinkPads, but online they all seem beat to shit. Are they solid devices or are they consumerist shit? Be neat to throw GunooLynnox on one if it was worth it.
They're pretty robust, I have no idea how so many people managed to dent them to shit like the ones you see for sale.
They can be rather nice. My 550 w/ 512mb can barely shitpost. Clean ones come up every once and awhile. I cant wait to see how faster tiger is on it compared to leopard.

Programming is basically a meme industry

Despite being over-saturated with 'talent' you'd be hard press to find a single competent person in any pile of resumes.
Someone post that picture of the homebrew guy complaining that he didn't know how to do a reverse binary tree. If you've been programming longer than 3-5 years and you can't do simple algorithms ..... I don't know what to tell you, m8.

Job interview didn't go well, huh?
>work as editor (journalism)
>have math degree
>want to get into tech and have been teaching myself programming to get into machine learning stuff
So what the fuck am I supposed to do?
Help me anons,
Pic related, should I buy a T420 or a X220? Both of them are around 270$.
>>54453650
t420: Bigger screen
x220: Lightweight
They're both the same in other aspects, so you need to decide what you want based on those differences.
>>54453684
I know that. Isn't 12.5" too small for 768p? Don't know if it is comfortable enought to work.
>>54453763
It's not really good for work.
Get the T420.
X220 is nice for shitposting and watching videos.

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls...

This your first time using graphics cards?
The most expensive shit always comes out first
>>54452220
>implying nvidia didn't try to make people think the cards were $100 cheaper than they actually are
>>54452193
That's fucked.
I get the premium if they're including the backplate and metal cooler shroud, but the misleading branding is horse shit. Typical for nVidia though.
Didn't see a laptop thread in the catalog (except that macbook or tablet thread)
going to college soon, looking to get a new laptop, since mine is from 2005 and fucked.
looking at cheap chromebooks, had a few questions for you pros.
>can i use an external disc reader?
>if i run ubuntu, can i have basically the same freedoms i would with a normal laptop?
>will any android app run on these?
i have my eye on the Toshiba, any reason why i shouldn't? any other suggestions?
this will be mainly for web surfing and homework (powerpoint, word, excel), and maybe Netflix, Skype, and steam, if possible
thanks for any help, in advance!
