Computers, instead of being used for intellectual amplification (with everyone having free universal access to a massive body of knowledge, learning about the world, other cultures, science... in short, making themselves better people), have turned into mass surveillance-enabling, corporate-endorsed advertising and entertainment devices, dumbing down everyone's span of attention with 24/7 small instant gratifications.
It didn't have to be like this.
I blame American "culture". Well, it's far-fetched to call it a culture. It's more...

The largest business opportunity in the past 50 years has been hijacked by people who want to make money, I would never have guessed it I am truly shocked.

you mean engendered it

The hacker revolution and ethic still burn as brightly now, more so even, as it did in the past.
The losers remain losers no matter what generation it is, they just have different toys to idle with.
I'm going to buy a Dell XPS 13 2015 edition, so the Broadwell one, not Skylake. Does anyone know how well Linux runs on it? Stuff like battery life and high DPI scaling.
The Archwiki wasn't that helpful, for example it reports no problems with the Skylake version which still has shit battery life thanks to nodrivers for the Skylake chipset, at least according to reddit.

Why is it so hard for an "international community of hundreds of avid volunteer programmers" to make something as good as the commercial alternative made by a team of 10 people?
1. Large open source projects have too much overhead attached to every single fucking decision. When a project it run commerically there are defined leaders and decision makers.
2. Often a large percentage of "contributors" contribute nothing or even have negative contributions as they break other peoples shit.
3. fuck it,im too lazy to continue
So why is it Linux is dominant in servers, an essential area for businesses and public services?

Note that Mint's solution to being a frankendebian is to just force you to reinstall from scratch after every major release

>>54479100vo_opengl: add optional hook points
These are "sequence points" where the image could be rendered out to an
FBO, hooked, and re-loaded if any such hook exists. This is perfect for
things like the current user shaders system, as well as optional effects
like unsharp masking.
Note that since we have to pick *some* FBO to store the optionally
hooked texture, we just store it in an array indexed by an increasing
counter. Since we only ever store as many...

Why do you use Arch, anon? Isn't it prone to breaking? How does it compare to Debian in regards to stability and software availability? Why should GNU/Linux users install it over Ubuntu?
Repost background image only?
But yes arch is love arch is life

There is literally no reason.
it's better unless you're running a server
Ever since the latest cumulative Windows 10 update, the start menu takes like 2 seconds to open up. This is clearly some botnet shit sending statistics to Microsoft's servers about how I use my start menu.
Recommend a less cucked OS please (preferably Linux and not Gentoo)

two of my standoffs aren't in 100%, but the mobo isn't touching the case. would this still prevent it from booting?
I have a few.
1. There is a router that has usb port on it and you can practiaclly make a NAS out of a pendrive. Is it possible the make a live usb linux drive, make it as NAS and boot a few comps connected through ethernet with it?
Can I just install like 4 pcs at one time with one drive through network?
2. If the network part of the mobo is completely fucked, how can a usb to ethernet adapter would work? What would be the MAC if the card is seriously utterly fucked?
3. Normal mobos usually only have 1 ethernet port. Can you just setup a server on it...

What is the best method for creating a database/back-end for a website and implementing it? Security-wise? Speed-wise? Like a user account for example with sensitive information.
I've seen it done with Java-XML, JS-HTML-PHP-SQL, etc etc.
What languages should I be using to write my back-end and why? I know Java and I've done the JS-PHP-SQL route before. I want to know which one experienced webdevs recommend and why.
