Going full Linux on laptop
I don't want to rice, I want decent feature ootb ( I run awesome on my dev VMs).
I just want comfiness, stability and Eye Candy.
I'm leaning towards Gnome 3 or KDE,
what are some nice ones?
>>54546721
Kubuntu or Fedora
>>54546744
Hows KDE nowadays? Still bloated and memory hog?
>>54546764
yes
I'm waiting to buy the 1080, I've never bought a GPU in the first week. Seeing how it's a reference card and I won't have a GPU cooler for it. Should I wait for aftermarket 1080?
>>54546615
We don't know yet, wait for benchmarks. You'll probably be better off with an aftermarket card but the reference card should be fine.
>>54546634
I only ask because my GPU is toast and I don't current have one. So the sooner the better, I just wonder if it's safe to use reference without cooler.
Should I buy the 970 or wait for the 1070

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls...

first for systemd is alright
Know of any resources for arch installation and use that are a bit more clear than the wiki sites? Maybe a YouTube that explains stuff clearly or a guide that makes sense and explains with command usage as well?

Phone good for the price of 350€?
It's OK
Had it, sold it. Full of bugs, laggy at many operations and just not optimized. They promised Marshmallow to be available for it whenever it would get released. Guess what? Still no Marshmallow. The customer support is also utter shit, and doesn't help at all. Just check the reviews or user ratings on /r/oneplus.

Don't buy anything made in 2015.
hello, lads
I need an air conditioner but I'm not sure which one to choose
panasonic, mitsubishi or daikin?
also are those technologies like e-ion, nanoe-g purification, motion sensor, 3D circulation airflow, econavi... worth the money?
No one shops for an AC by brand. Just by size of the unit (btu or kw usually).
I bet /g/ can install Gentoo on that thing too.
>>54545948
>tfw this style of air conditioner is not common in the US
central air B^)
i got these two servers that are under utilized, the hp is running a space station 13 server and the dell sometimes does csgo/arma3 servers but not right now its only doing teamspeak and ftp.
The dell is running dual xeon e5340 with 32gb of ram and the hp is single xeon e5340 with 6gb of ram
i also have fiber internet 50down 31up
What the hell can i use these things for?
Install proxmox, run VMs.

Subsonic is great for music streaming to a web client or an app on any device.
Mpd and icecast can do similar things.
Emby is FOSS Plex.

Hi /g/.
I'm a programming-layman and have basically no knowledge, and I also don't really need any besides that I want to code my own Imageboards.
I don't want to use some 0815 Imageboard engine because I wanna add some features which the average Imageboard doesn't have.
Which language/s should I learn for that?
>>54545514
Python
Django
HTML
SCSS
PostgreSQL
JS+Ajax+jQuery+possibly Knockout.js
Heroku
Amazon AWS
I think that's all you need
>>54545814
?
>>54545575
Do I really need all of this?

Yeah that ecosystem where cards break every update is such a strong point.
Having to sign up for an account to download drivers is such a critical edge.

What's a good smartwatch in the $300 ballpark, /g/?
Is the Moto360 any good?

Time to go back to >>>/r/eddit, OP
>>54545043
You're the one whining about people liking what you don't like.
I wouldn't spend so much on a smart watch, they're still maturing, maybe in another 3 years?
Would have smart watch specific processors, longer than 2-3 day battery lives and some more discrete uses.
Right now for that budget I will either go with a moto 360 2nd gen, the new LG watch or the Huawei smartwatch, which looks and works amazing but I've read really bad things about their customer service and non existent support.
It's over. Windows is dead.

What router is /g/ using in 2016?
>>54544671
Linksys wrt-1200AC. Cost me $120 brand new and performs great. Had to reset it after a power outage making the 5ghz band not respond, but overall zero complaints.
