Currently have an old Dell Vostro 200 laying around with no real good use.
I was using it on the TV to browse the Internet but I rather not do that anymore.
It has a Pentium 1.8GHz CPU, and 1.5GB of RAM, also has a 150GB HDD. I have a 4TB Green drive that I can throw in there.
I am gonna upgrade it in the near future.
What can I put it to use for now? I don't want it to collect dust.

What linux distro should I install?
(mainly programming perl and c++)
>>54580513
Just use Ubuntu or Mint, they're both pretty easy to use.
> inb4 "Install Gentoo"
Sun OS
>>54580513
I don't know any linux distro. But i can recommend Gentoo as a GNU/Linux distro.

thinkpad
$200 used thinkpad.
Spend the rest on beer and weed.
Thinkpad 13
Get the i5 version
Should I get a macbook pro or an IBM memepad for college?
Macbook is faster, lighter, and doesnt come packed with asian backdoors. Everybody uses a mac, so it will work better with everyone else, but the thinkpad is less then half the price, upgradable, and had that great keyboard. Not to mention the thinkpad is more open ended and can run win7 and any linux ditros i want.

learn how to objects and the difference between string compare and integer compare
>0777
In every decent language prefixing a number with 0 means it's base 8, 0777 is actually 511
Two empty arrays not being equal is completely fine because they are two different objects with different memory location.
0777 being larger than 800 and 600 is also false in real world because 0777 is 511 in octal notation.
I don't even like JS but try harder with your bait next time.
how can I stream mp3s from my server?

hey guys its nvidia sales rep again, and i've got GREAT news for you! but before i say anything - RAMLETS GET OUT REEEEEE WHEN WILL YOU LEARAN.
you can boot windows 7 straight from ram! wow its fast as shit! hot dog!
here's a guide, but i'll summarize.
http://tech.outcult.com/tutorials/winram/01/
so wipe everything clean, install windows 7. i suggest windows 7 Embedded. it can be pretty small, like half a gig. and then what you do, is create a VHD (virtual hard drive). then you edit up your BOOT_BCD files to allow you to use grub4dos....

Why is it when using a VPN to bittorrent, even with a torrent I know SHOULD have at least dozens of peers to connect to, there are always either 1 or 0 peers all day long or maybe 2-3 if it's doing really well, when normally there would be like 35 and the torrent would be done in minutes?
>>54579467
did you open your ports?
>>54580716
Honestly I'm a bit tech-illiterate and not sure about the ports thing. I wondered if that had something to do with it, but everything I've read has so much jargon it seems they expect you to already know everything about them while they're trying to tell you how to do anything with them.
>>54580952
im not very tecchy either, but its very possible to google that knowledge if youre patient. basically you need your VPN service to have the option to open a port for you, it's a 4 digit number that you then input in your torrenting software. it helps people connecting with you and may or may not be the solution to all your problems. you might have to open that port on your router too. give it a try, it might solve your shit
What is the point of lossless music?
couldn't you use those 30 mb to download the full HD music video instead?
Lossless files don't lose quality over time, lossy do. The point of FLAC is storage.
