there's going to be a school opening up in the Valley designed to teach students how to code. would going to a place like this replace college or a traditional computer science degree?

Futuristic looking building, but what the fuck is the point? Can't you just take online classes?
Same goes for all colleges, i don't understand why everything isn't online now.

Because some people like human interaction past a screen.
This changes EVERYTHING, again.

Bought an XPS 13 developer edition (Ubuntu preinstalled) last year.
Had to return it due to
1. Loud fan audible constantly even when idle
2. Battery lasting 2 hours
3. Wireless issues
Are these fixed or is it still a shitty laptop?
In the latter case, what's a good non-Thinkpad laptop that runs Linux well? I just can't deal with the god awful touchpad on the new ThinkPads.
Well, I'm pretty happy with my Latitude E5440.
That said the touchpad is horrible.

Touch pad is crap. So is keyboard.
I don't understand how a £1000 laptop has such a terrible build.

I had two 280x in crossfire, but one of them failed recently. I sent it in for replacement and just got it back, but XFX is out of 280x, so I got a 380x instead.
Now I can't crossfire. Should I sell both and get a founders 1070, or just use the 380x and sell the 280x? I play vidya at 1080p but it would be nice to definitively max out every game at that resolution.
>>54603359
Send the 280x in for replacement and get another 380x

assuming you can get enough money to buy one, why not? AMD's current comparable offerings are stagnant until Polaris/Vega

Seconded.
Hello, /g/.
My little sister somehow begged my dad into buying her an iPad type device so she can play candy crush all day. She's looking into an iPad mini, but there's no way I'm letting her get away with such a piece of crap. What similar device would you recommend?
Pic unrelated
A dragon dildo

An iPad mini if all she's going to do is play candy crush

My laptop, running windows 8, has the strain of HIV known as "get windows 10 now". Everyday, several times a day, it trys to progress into full windows 10, but i keep it at bay by clicking the "no thanks" button. My computer has had this disease for months, and today the treatment failed. Despite click the "no thinks, i dont want AIDs" button, it tried to install anyways. I managed to take the battery out before it got to far and now my computer is back to just the annoying pop up. What does /g/ think about Microsoft's biological warfare marketing strategy?
The same thing everyone else thinks: it's retarded and creepy.
>>54603198
Just use the gwx control panel and remove it.
>>54603198
Literally happened 5 minutes. Forced update that restart the computer and install Win10. It had a 15 minute countdown.
I don't want even want to think of the consequences.
We all know OS X is the superior operating system, but having to go to the Apple Store and be exposed to normies and their idiot tech support questions is infuriating.

Sorry to break it to you OP, but if you're going to the Apple Store with your problems you're one of them.

Easy to learn. Easy to use. OS X is built to bring out the best in your Mac, so you get a fully integrated system in which everything works together seamlessly. It works with the processor and graphics controller in your Mac to deliver the best possible performance. It works with the super-responsive trackpad in Mac notebooks, so Multi-Touch gestures feel natural to use. OS X even keeps your Mac up to date while it sleeps.2 Advanced power-saving technologies help extend battery life. And in OS X El Capitan, new system fonts are designed to look crisp and...

Is upgrading a PC's (self-built) processor just a matter of popping a new one with the same chipset in?
Depends on whether your operating system plays nicely, but on the hardware side you're correct (assuming you meant "socket" instead of chipset).
is has to be compatible with the motherboard .
new processors sometimes need a new bios that you can download from the mobos site
Mostly, yes.
Post your desktop, boring edition.
