What does /g/ think of minis?
I'm looking for a minimalist setup for my desk and I don't know about buying a big bulky desktop. I don't do a lot of gaming, so I don't really want a gaming rig. The most I do is a little bit of video editing and picture editing. I know that screams "buy an iMac", but I don't have $1400 to throw at apple at the moment. For my whole setup, I want to spend maybe $800-900.

Why not build a mini-itx PC?
>>54631491
Some people like to pay more than the price of an mini - itx pc for 1/2 of performance, dunno why.
>>54631458
They're the performance of a laptop, for the price of a laptop, but without the portability of a laptop.
Might as well get a laptop.
What the fuck is the point of this pattern lock, when smudges on the screen reveal the pattern?

Wipe the cheetos off your fingers and it wont be very noticeable.
They are generally shit for that reason, but you can pick crossing patterns and wipe your thumb across as a habit to improve things.
Why should people buy Macs when chromebooks are more powerful?
Because chromium is a heavy metal which is toxic to the environment. Apples are organic and all-natural so spend a little extra money to help save the planet.

Whats a good monitor to buy for gaming guys?
I got cucked by Asus for a 59hz monitor and it looks blottchy as shit.
>>54652303
>for a 59hz
Anon, that's just a windows issue, 59.98hz is reported as 59hz not 60hz in windows.
It's still an effective 60hz.
>>54652327
regardless the screen looks awful and I'd rather a new one I don't about hz so long as there 60
>>54652303
If you have an AMD card that supports Freesync get that Nixeus 1080P 144 hz monitor it's really nice for the cost.

I need new caps for my 3 year or so old Leopold full sized. I used some that I had left over from a backlit keyboard at home but the space bar doesn't fit. How would I look for caps that match my keyboard? Also would like ninja printing.
Is there such a thing as different styles for the pegs underneath? Is it only a problem because I tried to put backlit keycaps on a none backlit keyboard?
Price check on Granite Base Set + Modifers? Including resell ofc
I don't want to use Ubuntu anymore and I only use Windows when I have to. What is the best Linux distro to use that is spyware and adware free? Take into account I'm a linux noob and only been playing with it for about a year. Thanks /g/

My dear friends, I am posting this to remind you that there less than 3 months before Windows 10 FREE upgrade is free no more. After 27 July, Microsoft will make Windows 10 now costs an entire 130 USA dollars. Yes 130 American dollars, when you could have gotten it completely for FREE. Please read this whole post carefully, I don't want anyone to miss this wonderful opportunity. Deadline is approching very fast and will be over before you know it. I urge all of you to upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as possible. You don't actually have to use Windows 10 after you upgrade. You can upgrade to Windows 10 and then immediately downgrade to 7 or 8 if you want (at your own peril if I may add). This method, you now get a saved Windows 10 license for FREE while still using whatever os you were comfortable with before. Hurry up and get your free upgrade to Windows 10 before you end up spending $130 for it in July. You don't even have to use it for fuck's sake, just upgrade and go back if you are still dumb enough to be scared of the nonexistent bogeyman spying.

I understand some businesses wanting to keep Windows 7 because there are quite a few instances where you must support legacy software, but for average computer users? Windows 10 is like 95% the same under the hood as 7 or 8, uses the same drivers, has much faster performance, is more optimized and modern, and has considerably better improvements. I know I'll get replies condemning me a shill for Microsoft but you guys ought just be realistic here. 90% of computer users have no business running insecure, inferior,...

I agree with you, people should just get it over with. Windows 10 is a lot better than Windows 7. It won't be fun browsing the internet in 2017 and beyond with a 10 year old unsupported operating system. Upgrading is a no-brainer at this point.

Which one is objectively the better video card? No bullshit, no mentioning the 1070 or 1080 as an excuse, I want to know which card between these specific two cards is better right now.
the 970 might be an alright idea right now, but driver updates will definitely 'fix' that when the new cards come out
>>54647884
The 970 was never better than the 390. So its never a good idea.
How does this thread come up so often on this board?
I liked the older 290 cooler better actually, just has more detail.

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls...

Ubuntu is perverting freedom into something that's nice because it's gratis.
Canonical is completly missing the point and if you didn't already jump off the amazon-lens train, Canonical + Microsoft = best friends should be the last warning signal.
Thoughts welcome.
