Why do people still user iPhone?
Seems overpriced and underwhelming, no matter how you look at it.
Also seems more problematic than just buying an Android phone.
>horrible app integration
>barely functional, locked down, and featureless OS
>mediocre screen (on par with budget amoled samsungs)
>no memory expansion. Got 16GB? Well fuck you that's all you get!
>no app drawer, therefore, no clean homescreen.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
What functionality does iOS not have?
>>54643329
>ir blaster
>expandable memory
>file system
>double tap to wake
There's a few more but I can't remember it all off the top of my head.
It has all the basics a smartphone needs, to be a smartphone, but barely anything beyond that.
On the plus side though, replacement parts are cheap af on eBay
>>54643329
>functionality
>iOS
Good joke.
So I'm tired of Windows, making the jump to Ubuntu. What are the things I should first learn about Linux?
>>54643183
Most of the shit you'll need to do will be tenfold more difficult, less efficient and you'll probably need to google a ton of problems you run into just to get it done. Other than that, it's pretty based.
>>54643221
>based
>>54643297
Oh look, I rustled the jimmies of a *nix sperg. Come back when you're not memeposting image macros from five years ago when it stopped being funny.
what are your thoughts on corsair's keyboards and mice? i ordered pic related today. hope i don't regret it
>>54643179
What keyboard is that, looks cool
>>54643179
keyboards are nice as fuck
>>54643179
They're par for the course when using Cherry MX switches, which are great.
But they are sorely over-priced. It's mass marketed gaymer crap, but it get's the job done. Just make sure your wallet doesn't cry too hard.
Do you have an e-reader? Do you like it?
>>54642974
I got a yarvik, 20 bucks off Amazon awhile ago.
It's not fancy. It does have room for a memory card and stores hundreds of my books I didn't pay for. Battery lasts all week with moderate use. Moderate being some reading on my lunch hour and late at night before I go to bed.
I love it.
>>54642974
Old school Kindle, I think 2nd gen. Yeah, it's still my go-to reading device. Probably one of my best tech investments ever.
Had the original Nook years back. Got off e-readers for awhile, then had the itch again. Grabbed a Kindle Voyage. Great investment, love the e-ink... Easy on the eyes.
Alright /g/ we all end up having to use shitty botware every now and again because we have normie friends who are stuck in there ways. If I have to use skype is there any way / hack to make it less botnet? Aparently I can't convince people to use a better VOIP program.
>talking to normies
>>54642773
Use Pidgin + Skype4Web plugin, just for text.
switch to a different VOIP program if you want calling
>>54642808
Mumble, don't trust discord, read their ToS if you aren't convinced.
Is Fedora a good distro ?
I'm in there actually and the only problem is that the KDE kickoff is unkillable , i just can't change it . ( The fedora icon ruin it )
>>54642767
So..
No one give a fuck ?
>>54642767
Lowest beta testing cuck distro for prajeets. If you want to use rpm buy RHEL
Yes it is. More up to date than any stable apt-get based distro, made by the most successful company in FOSS that fixes more bugs than anyone else.
>>54642926
>Le cuck pajeet maymay
Wow so fucking original.
>look at thread, op is asking what linux distro is good for a beginner
>everyone says arch
Why does everyone push Arch on this board like it's the next coming of Christ? Arch is NOT newfag friendly AT ALL, especially for a Windowsfag trying to escape. If anything, they'll fuck up the install 35 times and get frustrated and quit, or, they'll somehow manage to install it, and then break something really quickly and not be able to fix it.
Why do you guys recommend Arch for a newfag?
>>54642564
Its fun to play with and setup everything yourself. Theres not really any other reason to use it.
Install gentoo.
>>54642564
Exactly why did you make this blog thread? People also recommend gentoo for newfags and they are not serious as well
Feels good to see install60.iso in the snapshots
OpenBSD's man pages on the web also get updates
Easier to read and link, no?

Is there any way to switch ttys on freebsd with an X server running. In console it just works by pressing Alt+f* but when I run an X server and try to switch back into console, changing the tty just makes it crash. Also it cant compile 2bwm correctly.
Should I switch to openbsd? does it have this problem
>>54642510
I run a Thinkpad X201, and tried installing OpenBSD earlier today. However, my wireless card is completely undetected by the system. Am I missing something? Does OpenBSD just not have the drivers for it?
I'm looking for a lightweight laptop without preinstalled bullshit. I'd like to use some form of linux on it, and it will be used as a productivity device e.g coding, writing etc.
Was thinking of some system76 or Purism Librem, anyone else have suggestions?
>>54642506
>system76
>other pretentious IT bollocks
Lol fuck off m8
>>54642614
Then tell me what's better. I have no idea, that's why I came here.
>>54642634
File name idiot!
Just get something from an office clearance. It'll cost you pennies.
They come wiped so you just stick Debian on it.
Are there any groups out there that practice hacking into different types of topology or infrastructures? like ethically or with permission. I have a strong knowledge base of linux and pen testing that has been self learned but have been wanting to put my knowledge to practice. I live in the bay area witch is a tech haven so I was hoping someone knew of maybe an academic group or organization that gets together to do this kind of thing.
>>54642454
Google is your best friend.
>>54642454
There are hacker groups in many hub cities.
I've been to one in Vancouver. However they deal mostly with hardware modding.
