Hey /gee/, I'm trying to configure this old ass router, but it says it's not connected to the internet, even though the internet works just fine if I plug the same ethernet cable in my computer.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? My knowledge of networks is limited to plugging ethernet cables in and expecting shit to work on its own.
This is what the internet setup page looks like, and I can't really seem to do anything, besides selecting dhcp and hitting enter. But that just restarts the router, gives me a "successfully configured" message,...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Contact your internet service provider.
>the internet works just fine if I plug the same ethernet cable in my computer
What are you doing? Take a photo of your setup. It sounds like you're trying to plug an existing and working LAN connection into this DLink modem?
Are you trying to setup a wifi access point?
>>54649397
Connect computer to router, router to modem, modem to whatever it needs to be connected to. Gonna need some more info about your setup if you want help.
So /g/, I just bought an ideapad 100s laptop. Never before have I seen a new windows laptop so cheap, though I don't go shopping for laptops often. Cost me 220 Australian dollarydoos, which is about 160 American dollars.
Tell me what a grave mistake I've made and ruin it for me before it arrives pls?
Oh, and this is the prettiest windows laptop I've seen too. Macs look better, but macs are boring and expensive, like a porsche.
>>54649355
for that price, you'll probably suffer from poor longevity.
If it becomes sluggish, install linux
>>54649355
Why would that be a mistake? I've got an asus with same specs, it's fucking goat.
>good performance for web browsing and multimedia
>good battery life, expect over 10 hours per charge
>very portable
>>54649371
Bay trail has horrible Linux support. But mine hasn't become sluggish yet and I've had it for 3 months.
>>54649385
Some extra hard disk space would be nice though, but at this price, who cares really? External is good enough.
I pay $120 a month for this.
My 100/100 is 10€ / month.
>>54649308
$120 dollaridoos. That currency has no value.
>>54649308
Try having 2/1 with 1,000 ping.
I used to have 35/1 cable with reliable <20 ping, too. It's suffering to go from that to this dog shit.
I'm not usually a lefty cuck but good god am I voting Labor in this election. We need FTTP.

IT'S HAPPENING

I kind of want to sell my 980 Ti's and get into cheap builds. It seems fun to try to get decent performance for way less money. I still have my old 1080p monitor I could game on that and use my 4k one for web browsing.
RIP AMD

Holy shit, OP. You're right.
I'm still laughing.

Nostalgia thread.
Being born in a shitty third world country, my first console was a shitty Famiclone that was a pink Sega Genesis. My cheapstick of a father only bought ONE game for it: Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers
And when my aunt finally bought my a PC because my deabeat of a dad wouldn't, I cried and cried until he upgraded the graphics card to a Geforce 5200. Can you fucking believe it.? Fuck my dad. I hope he roasts in hell.
Well I guess nostalgia thread.

I'm Iranian actually. Life sucks here. I just witnessed a stoning getting carried out in the town square. People are brutal, illogical, retarded and extremely poor and uneducated. Fuck Islam and fuck Iran.
This changes everything
that hinge tho
i dont understand how you could possibly want your laptop to be any thinner than they where about 4 years ago let alone that paper thin shit
>>54649207
is that ironic? if not, what does it change? I can barely make out a difference in thickness.
What programs are a must for you?
I swear when I have to use a computer and it doesnt have F.lux I feel like throwing up
Android Studio :^)
>>54649189
F.lux is placebo and you've conditioned yourself into delusion.
>>54649246
It just feels nice man
If you use it for a month then go back it hurts
What's the easiest way to reset trial software?
This is assuming you're using Windows, Usually there is a registry key you can edit or delete to make it think this was a first time install. No idea about how to do it on Linux or OS X. What OS are you using?

Is that Trump and what's Pajeet doing standing next to him?

Making him great again, americucko.

Is there anything better for $600 or below? Build is for a friend with a budget of 600, would be used for gaymen primarily
Inb4 >>>/v/
>>54649109
OP can't inb4

You suck. You could go Skylake for that price.
>>54649733
skylake mobos are massively more unreliable and have triple the failure rate
there's no reason to adopt skylake anytime soon
>tfw 10 core android phones will be coming out
>tfw 6GB ram
>tfw the cpu is probably faster than my desktop
>tfw the phone has more ram than my desktop
What the fuck?
I feel like technology is progressing faster than I can keep track of it.
My current desktop is an i3 2120 with 4GB ddr3 ram. Makes me feel bad 2bh.
And still, the fact that it doesn't run full Linux/Windows and lack of keyboard limits it every possible way.
>>54649020
I wish I could have a phablet running win7 and linux with one of those fancy little bluetooth keyboards and 10h battery life.
>>54649020
You can install linux on it. You can also plug in a keyboard if you want.
Due to a liquid cooling tank explosion in my computer I may be out of a cpu and gpu. I won't know until this weekend when it has dried out completely.
If the worst has happened and those parts did die then I'll have to get new ones. My cpu was a 1st gen i7-950 and the gpu was a GTX650.
I'm guessing literally an intel cpu at this point would be an improvement and for the gpu, maybe I could upgrade to a 960.
What do you guys think?
>>54648951
Somebody here said a few days ago in another thread that current gen i3 performance was on par with oldest gen i7, so hopefully that helps you decide what to expect
>>54648951
lol 960
>>54648951
>i7-950
>GTX650
And nothing of value was lost.
Are desktop threads banned now?
>>54648695
I hope so. This board is shit enough that no desktop threads will improve it a bit.
Yes and around 9-10 on the east coast at night, whiny shitposters protest it by shitposting.
>>54648695
they just get auto saged and now they just make threads with retarded titles like "huge homescreens" to bypass it and the mods don't do shit
some of them seem to be trying to move over to >>>/w/ which is cool though, they'll find more posters to share their interest rather than autistically rage/shitpost anyway.
