I need a good, console-based editor with syntax highlighting for C. What've you got?

Is this a serious recommendation or are you just memeing? I'm willing to consider it, but I don't want to learn a billion keybindings, I'd rather just be able to type and go.
nano, idiot
Halp! I broke my phone!
The screen is fine but everything else is fucked. What do I do?

>>54660764
there are these places that take broken phones and they use spare parts and general knowledge of smartphones to make them better, and all they ask in return is monetary compensation

Imgur and other image hosting sites now appear to be blocked on virgin media along with the pirate bay and other sites.
I want to get off mr tories wild ride.
This happens every other day, someone uploads CP and they accidentally block the whole domain instead of one page
>>54660364
Is this at an ISP level? Interesting.
I'm with Virgin and noticed imgur wouldn't load earlier.
Might be that IWF thing where someone uploads something illegal and they block the whole site due to incompetency

>Sometimes I put links for whatever stuff I don't want to forget in my facebook chat
>check it now today
>after clicking the icon in the display I could see a pirate bay link I putted there

How much does it cost to build a low storage home server? It doesn't have to be an uninterruptible failure proof tank, just something to start dicking around with.
$100
>>54660323
>low storage home server?
any ebay dekstop or labtob for like $200
+ free server linux
>>54660323
Cheaper than shit. Pretty much anything will do for basic work, if you want that "enterprise" feeling, low-power 1U rackmounts are very cheap and good for most home server jobs. Tower servers are a little more expensive, probably because they're not as common.
I personally use a little SPARC box for hosting a website, light development and remote access for shit like note taking and checking my mail from anywhere, Sun stuff can be had very cheaply (under $100 not including shipping) right now...

Sup family, anyone got some good tips for Android dev ? I'm still developing my first app, as you can see in my screenshot. App is named "BasicListView".

What does your app do? What do you need help with? What areas do you want tips with?

This isn't a desktop thread edition.
Speaking of desktop threads, where have all the desktop threads gone?

Are there any laptops under $300 that have REALLY fast boot up times? Or is Chromebook the fastest?
>>54660143
If you have a $300 laptop your life is not very exciting, so why do you worry?
>>54660173
I just want something on the side I can use that's quick, I don't give a shit about storage space or video card.
Chromebook is the fastest because it has a ssd.
It's that time again.Vim or emacs?
if you want a bloated editor that won't actually make you significantly more productive when actually programming, and may actually hinder you until you have it fully configured, you should use vim.

Stopped caring.
So I signed up for my first CompSci course at Uni this fall. It's primarily C#.
Did I do good?
Sure, but your teacher is probably gonna be an object-oriented blowhard IG my college experience was any indication.
Learn C#. Learn what it's good for. But do so with a grain of salt, and be ready to analyze criticisms of OOP and imperative programming.
Then one day, give F# a try. That'll lead you down a functional rabbit-hole that's so goddamn fun, you'll be writing all kinds of ML and Lisp and other shit and wondering why the fuck they teach imperative and OOP in schools by default.
So yeah. Maintain your incredulity and skepticism...

Contrary to him, my first and only comp sci class was in Java. What is the big different between C# and Java? For example why would programmers particularly prefer one language over the other? (I know C has access to your memory)
>>54660206
>What is the big different between C# and Java?
There are hardly any. C# is basically Microsoft's Java.
What he mean by this
I'm quite surprised you have killed your self.

Any way to change the amount of dedicated video ram for your laptop?
My little brother is trying to play a game but it keeps saying " failed in finding proper screen mode for gr2d " which is apparently an issue for lack of video ram. Not sure though.
Tried updating drivers. Can't change it manually through the bios. Tried compatibility mode for the game but no dice.
Is it an integrated or discrete graphics chip (eg is it HD Graphics or an NVIDIA/AMD)? If it's integrated you may be able to allocate more ram as dedicated memory through the BIOS.
>>54659617
