Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

First for Linux Mint
What's the proper price for a new 9 cell for X220? Should I be wary of "genuine" ebay batteries for ~65$?
>>54688089
$65 sounds about right if they're coming from China. I paid $100 for mine to get it domestically.
Any other fags here still using kitkat?
Official 1-18-2015 CM11 kitkat forever basically
Have an option for official CM13
But fuck it its too comfy
>>54687820
Same. Had option to upgrade to official CM12 (Lollipop) and official CM13 (Marshmallow), used them both as daily-drivers but after a few weeks went back to CM11 each time. I guess I'll stay on KitKat until I'll change my phone.

Can a pcie ssd from a macbook work on a pcs pcie port?
>>54687542
maybe
maybe. but probably not
>>54687542
no, because apple uses a propreitary format by OWC for it's PCIe SSD in the macbooks.
One, of a lot of good reasons why I don't buy apple stuff.
the XG270HU for 349$, good deal?
I've researched it and a lot of people complain about the stand and it moving, but aren't all monitors unsecure pieces of shit?
>>54687352
I have this monitor.
The stand is solid, and the 144hz 1440p is nice. Freesync doesn't make a huge difference imo.
My only complaint is that the color reproduction is subpar at best. On my desktop wallpaper, the blacks look like black/red. And in general overall the colors look brighter compared to my second IPS panel.
Personally id recommend saving up and getting a nice IPS from another company.

What does /g/ think about Syncthing?
>Syncthing replaces proprietary sync and cloud services with something open, trustworthy and decentralized. Your data is your data alone and you deserve to choose where it is stored, if it is shared with some third party and how it's transmitted over the Internet.

It deleted 2 days worth of work once (in php, no great loss), and when I last used it a year and a half ago, it uses lots of CPU.
Don't have an opinion right now since I'm not using it.
>>54686862
I use it between my desktop, NAS and laptop to sync documents and pictures. It has had a few hickups and annoying breaking changes over the years, but all in all the project is in great hands.
That being said, I still don't fully trust it fully, so I backup both my data and have a syncthing specific incremental local copy.#!/bin/bash
# /etc/cron.daily/
# Differential backup on a week, one for each day

Ouch, how? Conflicting copy? That seems to be much better now.
Resource usage isn't as crazy as before because of smarter sync, but the encryption (AES) part isn't going away so it can potentially be noticed if you're on a laptop or phone.
Hey /g/. I want to get a custom ROM for my Nexus 6 that improves battery life but doesn't include Google apps within the ROM. What does /g/ recommend. Also custom ROM discussion thread.
cyanogenmod, it doesn't come with google apps by default (not even play store)
Official CM13 why is this even a question

>Good battery life
Pick one.
post your useful bash thingies, i will start with posting mine. I'm pretty sure that it isn't all that optimal but it works for me™

i wish people would stop using the term "ai" until REAL ai exists
>>54686483
that's because you're a fucking retard that has no idea what an AI is
>>54686483
I wish people would stop being illiterate sci-fi children. There is not and will never be "real AI" or "true AI" or "strong AI" because those terms were only made up for stupid children books or hollywood movies. Actual AI research doesn't give a shit about your fantasies. Actual AI research is about algorithms and statistics.
>>54686483
ai literally means the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence
a fucking roomba has artificial intelligence, albeit it isn't as intelligent as cleverbot is
Hello /g/, what is it like to be a programmer ?
And do you need to be good at Algebra ?
All you need to know is how to install gentoo
>>54686470
>what is it like to be a programmer ?
Fun.
>do you need to be good at Algebra ?
No. You have to be decent at it.
You have to like to logic and like to learn. Most important: you have to know how to google.
One of THE biggest just went ded.
Prob. Because it archived /b/ too.
Who will follow next?
Desustorage? Rbt? Warosu?

>>54685938
I'm ambivalent when it comes to archiving anyway. In a way it defeats the purpose of having a fast moving imageboard with a very low treshold for what one can or can not say or do. On the other hand it's very practical for digging out useful posts of images after the fact. Also, cp and doxxing.
why do archive this shit in the first place. it's stupid
What's stopping me from putting a 128gb sd card into my Galaxy note 4 and dual boot android with a linux distro and finally ditch my laptop? Tell me /g/, why I haven't seen it anywhere? Why don't you put linux dual boot on your powerful device? why? why?

The read/write speeds.
A keyboard.
I will physically stop you from doing it.
