Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls...

Is there a way to just activate all USE flags, then blacklist ones you don't want?
Should I use one of the many variations of Arch, Debian, or Ubuntu as my daily driver?

What's the point of encrypting your HD if they will throw you in jail if you don't decrypt?

What's the point of locking your door if the SWAT team will just break it down?
>>54706770
The police in pic is Dutch. We have no decryption orders.
But even for muricans encryption helps against (laptop) thieves and annoying family members. And encrypted communication helps against eaves dropping by criminals.
Why wouldnt you encrypt everything?
You give them the fake decryption password
How the fuck can anyone use this piece of crap on a daily basis???
Slap Ubuntu or something on it and stop crying.

I realized that CS meme is just hit or miss. Some guys are lucky to get their internships at huge companies during 3rd-4th years, some guys just webdev, some guys go full NEET. But in the end it's basically hit or miss. You either get good internships or you are doomed in the first 5-10 years after graduation until you are considered "experienced" by those huge companies. Then it's your knowledge + luck again in the interviews.
>>54706537
Is it luck or is it your inability to code?

>Some guys are lucky to get their internships at huge companies during 3rd-4th years
Fuck off pajeet. You shouldn't have went to a Java mill
>not lying about experience
top wew I have been getting endless emails for interviews that I hardly have the time to respond to
Why do these pieces of fuck break fucking constantly. Any time I get a new phone they manage to break within the first month. It's not even due to carelessness because I barely even use them.
I even bought a jack plug for when I'm not using it because they attract lint like a fucking magnet. Sure enough as soon as I go a few days without using the plug, the jack breaks.
What the fuck is the deal? This happens to almost everyone I know, too
Honestly, that's what I call a cool story bro. Such a riveting tale, I honestly copy and pasted it to word, saved on my hard drive, backed it up on a jump drive, drove to the bank, put the jump drive in the safe deposit box, and will leave it there until my kids turn about 12 (when they can actually state their age, and ask what it is I'm showing them), when I will pick it up, put it in an old USB drive reader and relay this cool story to them and tell them, "kids, this is what a cool story should look and sound like...not like the stories your generation tells.
And here I thought you couldn't get any more retarded than the people that constantly destroy micro usb cables.

external power ruins it. Nothing like a giant brick to ruin the feel of small form factor.

Indeed.
Nvidiots on suicide watch.
232mm2 GPU doing 90% performance of a 40% larger die at much lower power.
This is literally Evergreen vs Fermi again.
Not that this wasn't expected after Pascal turned out to be Maxwell clocked to hell.

>two of the amd cards doing 90% of one nvidia card
You're dumb.
Although, what looks like a 480x doing better than a 980 looks really promising. Most likely AMD will have a nice hold on frame/dollar at that mid range price point.

Zen modules are now quad-cored, with full allocated resources given to each core. Not 1FP per two cores like with Bulldozer.
Zen is 14nm FinFET.
Posting wccftech articles should be an instan permaban.
none of this means anything until benchmarks come out.

the nsa does not give a fuck about you. The only way they could get access to your encrypted data is if it was worth millions. You're not worth their time.

regex search in action
major new thing is the support of regex search which someone suggested in the last thread
was pretty skeptical about its usefulness but it is actually pretty awesome to play with regex
some things to point out about regex search
>case insensitive
for more comfy use
>only filenames and directory names are searched
normal non-regex search modes search full path
this allows you to use name of directories containing files you search for as one of the search terms...
