Well, it happened. W10 forced itself onto my computer. My fault for not turning off updates. What's the best package for silencing the snooping shit? Which one will cause the least amount of potential issues/instabilities going forward?

No. It's shit. Any laptop under 500 new is not worth buying.

a desktop os SHOULD utilize all resources for better user experience. load everything into ram if necessary, just like windows 7+ does (prefetch, superfetch)
what's your excuse for not removing linux from your hard drive forever?

Pajeet going all out

why the fuck would I want to do that when I have an SSD and read times are almost instant anyways?
>>54776215
Even Pajeet can make a better desktop OS, what's you excuse.
I've been using Xubuntu for a while now, but it's becoming how unmanageable the errors and bugs have become and I'm making the switch back to Windows, but I have heard talk about Window's spooky spying software. Have any of you been on the same boat as me?
>>54776166

No because Linux is pretty retard prof nowadays
hasn't worked for you apparently

Sup /g/ I just upgraded from CM 13 6.0.1 to KitKat 4.4.4, should I stay on KitKat or install 5.0.2 on my Moto G?
what was wrong with CM13?
works for my moto /g/
>>54776193
It had a lot of nice features, LiveDisplay, Sleep on touch, double lockscreen button for camera, wake up on notifications, etc. But it was a resource hog and apps were taking minutes to load.

Hey /g/
I'm poor as fuck and trying to build a somewhat decent gaming desktop. Would you guys be able to look over the list of parts I have and tell me if they'll work decently or not?
Hard to beat that CPU price honestly, it's a piece of shit though. I upgraded from a A10-7850k because the CPU just wasn't powerful enough, even with a dedicated GPU. and it was a quad core and a generation newer than that one.
Delete this thread, ask in a relevant thread. Newfriend.
>>54776031
CPU will work. GPU is like terrible though. Get a used GTX 750 or 650 if you need to get that cheap of a GPU. Also get like everything used.
Why does /g/ still promote C as the end-all be-all language when it teaches bad habits about computers in 2016?
Since every operator is a 1:1 mapping of a CPU opcode, there are no native operations for things the modern world takes for granted, like dynamic typing, function literals and the ability to pass and return data structures as first class objects.
You're basically forced to reimplement all that shit over and over with every C project you make, and it's a literal waste of time, when you could have just written it in JS or Python in a fraction of the...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
That's why Bjarne created c++.
But C is still very useful for certain things and more portable.

>Why does /g/ insist on being stuck in 1972?
Because /g/ has never made an actual useful program, check out dpt and look for yourself all meme projects for beginners.
>Now that cloud compute time is so stupidly cheap, you can just add more cores to a problem until it goes away
You disgust me and prove the point that as time goes on, programmers become lazier and lazier.
Sure, C shouldn't be used for everything but you're delusional if you don't believe it has its place.
What is /g/'s opinion on it?

Can someone shed light on this?
As far as I can tell, there is only one 560 2win card which has 2gb vram (1gb usable because SLI).
Apparently they have 1gb models in stock and ready to ship.
How do they have a card that doesn't exist?
Why does my Samsung headphones sound better than my headphones? Is it because my phone has a better soundcard than my PC or is it because I have to burn my headphones in or is that a meme?
>>54776087
Adapt sound settings.
Eat your heart out, Qualcomm Quick Charge. Intel's got you by the tail.
But seriously, what's going on here?

Goodbye /g/

You mean forced upgrades to Windows 10 or using an vulnerable unpatched OS?
If you actually had a purpose for your computer instead of just tinkering with it you might find a use for Linux. Otherwise have fun learning.
Been using the same distros for months, pretty stable and smooth

Does anyone run a nas at home? How are these? Synology seems legit but I have no experience with them. Any alternatives?
we have a synology at work with 6 bays.
it's like a tiny linux server that runs services and a webinterface.
at home I just run a RAID1 on a linux machine with samba.
>>54775568
Throw together a cheap celeron build, those pre-made nas setups always use woefully under powered hardware. Many say the bare minimum ram for running a zfs file system is 8 gigs.
