Does anyone here use an E reader
Amazon has gone full jew with their DRM cloud storage and poojet tech support. Kobo seems to be dead and their last reader was in 2014. The Nook is just bad
How much longer do you think it will take before we get color e ink readers before 1k?
TL:DR should I get a paperwhite 3, Voyage, or Oasis or wait another year or two for something better?
>>54808679
Just buy real books man, they're cheap esp. if they're in paperback or used.
Pirating books is a thing, I use a normal tablet and use a .epub reader app.
I had a First Gen Nook, and you can crack it and load it with free books if you want, but It's not great, no glare, but no night light.
>>54808679
unfortunately, if you look at the specs of the oasis vs. the voyage, the voyage actually outclasses the oasis in almost everything; if i recall correctly, the oasis doesn't even have the ambient light sensor. if you buy the oasis, you're buying it for the ergonomics and aesthetics, but you don't get any more functionality at all.
as for the paperwhite 3 vs. the voyage, i have both, and it really stems down to two things: slightly better backlighting, and it's lighter.
both the paperwhite...

It's a good distro, only problem are some piss old core packages.
Would still install over Gentoo every day desu, it involves a magnitude less USE flag autism.
So I got meme'd into trying Haskell and nearly wasted my whole weekend with this shit. It is better than Lisp they said. WRONG! Programming in Haskell is a PRISON. You are bound by a ridiculous flurry of constraints created by other people. Haskell makes it impossible to express what you want to how you want it. Also none of the experience you gain in Haskell is portable to other languages because it's so different. All the time you spend writing Haskell code is only useful for writing more Haskell in the future.
It's fucking shit. Stick to good languages like Racket and Clojure and CL.
>>54808434
>nearly wasted my whole weekend
Sorry, but do you expect to learn a completely different langauge at one weekend?
>Haskell makes it impossible to express what you want to how you want it.
Ah well, every beginning is hard..
>Also none of the experience you gain in Haskell is portable to other languages because it's so different.
That's exactly the point:
You learn a bunch ofprogramming languages so you have differnt "mindsets" about how to adress problems.
For example if you learn Scala but only know Java, you will probably adress most problems in an OOP way. But if you have learned Haskell and Java and then learn Scala, you will probably use it very differnt.

So you think ode should have to drop into """monads""" mutate state, lmao. Haskell takes this """functional purity""" nonsense way too far to the point that it's impossible to write programs at any reasonable pace.
GHC is a big magic black box. It weighs 1 GB and no one knows what it does. That's not how I like to write software. I would like to be able to see my decompilation and understand it or be able to read the source of the compiler....

I'm kind of with you OP. I used Haskell for all my personal projects for about 6 months. I switched back to Scheme and then to Clojure and I feel so freed.
That being said, Haskell is a great experience and I always recommend that people learn it. It has improved my Lisp so much. I'm happy I spent so much time with it, but for the foreseeable future Clojure is my language of choice for personal projects.

Just a random pic I found on int.
I have never opened my laptop before to clean out the cpu and fan and shit. I have had this for more than 5 years now. I have the Samsung r580-jbb2. It has been running shit and overheating for years now and I figured it was time to either clean it out or get a new one. I am nervous to clean it out though. The only video I have found of people doing it is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQfaL10fxEg
Which they dont even speak english and it is the version earlier but it is basically the same. I could probably follow directions enough to succeed. Should I do it guys?...

Really pretentious or what?
Is it normal for a motherboard to have a higher temp than your cpu?
I recently finished my new build and everything was going well till I my computer randomly shut down when playing doom, It would reboot but constantly turn off. I figured it was a overheating problem.
I reapplied paste on my cpu and tried again...still the same.
this has me scratching my head.
What happens is the temps of my cpu and motherboard jump all over the place when loading a program. my motherboard temp is always higher. it's almost as if my motherboard heats up my cpu which i know isn't...

I figured that was the problem at first. I had a Cosair 860!. Obviously enough what I have but I thought maybe its just failed so I got a new 1200! just to be sure and still have the problems.
