Hey fellow /g/amers ^-^! Let's have a gaming PC thread. Just built this gaming PC 2 weeks ago, what does /g/ think about it? And how much do you think it cost to build? I'm from Northern Europe.

Buying a 980 with the 1080 literally just releasing is questionable, unless you picked it up cheap somewhere
>>54814232
the 1080 was announced a week after I had finished my build ;_;
Why is Internet so expensive?
:(
This is from competing ISP
>>54814215
add 13% VAT extra on total, it is only cheaper by Rs. 2000. But we have to buy rs 2,000 worth of wifi router from them. Jews I tell you!
Should I do it /g/ ?
Judging from the size, it looks very minimal.
>>54813945
dnf seems nice -- yum was shit
Go for it. Also ignore all warnings during compile time. I sure you'll get it right the first go around. Also IRC gentoo folks are VERY helpful even if you are a Linux Guru and EMACS master.
>>54813945
Install Arch if you aren't a linux expert and want a minimal distro
Does any linux-based virtualization platform such as xen or openvz support advanced networking concepts, similar to those found in VMware? I'm thinking vswitches and such. Hoping to find the ideal package/solution for my colo.
thanks
>>54813797
Idk but I'm pretty surehunnicutt was better than trapper
>>54813797
anything that supports openvswitch
>>54815960
of course he was. is there any controversy about that?

$1.5k...
What the fuck..
Who the fuck is going to spend $1500 on a fucking phone?
No wonder android is kicking it's ass and holds a much higher market share. The price difference between the phone that is 16GB and 128GB is like 500 bucks too. I'm pretty sure a 128GB SD card is not 500 dollars.
>>54813658
You realize that when you're talking about the difference between 16GB and 128GB, it's not like a 16GB SD card compared with a 128GB? Internal flash memory is more comparable to SSD memory than a flash drive. It's still probably less expensive than the difference charged, but it's not as egregious as you seem to think.
>>54813694
Found the applefag
You can get a 128gb SSD for fifty bucks fuckhead
>>54813694
128gb 90mb/s w/r cards are 50bucks m8. You won't notice a difference.
I need a mouse:
- with lots of buttons (for videogames)
- onboard memory with "repeating while hold" macros so I can use them when I go to other computers without installing any software on them
currently using G600 but one of the buttons is failing, so I need a replacement and tought about looking for the onboard memory macros, racer and corsair also need the sofware for running macros
Try the Redragon Perdition it's a solid mouse and the profiles are saved to internal memory. You don't need the drivers for the mouse to work, or access to the cloud to get your profile. Once you setup the mouse you can unplug the mouse. Plug it into another PC or Mac and the mouse keeps your settings stored internally.
>>54814099
exactly what I need, thanks, does it have horizontal scroll wheel?
>>54814099
also can macros be repeating while button is hold? or they must be specified how many times it will loop?
Hey /g/. I'm going to be starting college next year and I need some help picking a laptop. Pretty bummed I can't bring my new battle station :/
Just want an HP laptop that will last for a long time for a good price
Must be:
>more than $900, but as close to $900 as possible
>must be an HP normal/business/gaming laptop
>long battery life for notes throughout the day
>need a nice keyboard for essays so I won't be getting a shitty detachable tablet device
>don't really care about the touchscreen feature
Currently leaning towards the HP "EliteBook Folio G1 Customizable" or the "HP ENVY Best Value Laptop"
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks g/uys

Why does it have to be HP of all brands ?
Objectively what's the best mouse for playing fast paced FPS games?

Snapchat is terrible, but I need it to run on my phone. Situation is I uninstalled GAPPS in cyanogenmod and I can't sign into Snapchat without google play store.... To emulate google play store I need Xposed framework, but I can't sign into Snapchat if Xposed is installed.
So if I change either of them I'm unable to sign in to Snapchat. I've tried moving Xposed to system apps, cloaking Xposed with rootcloaker, but nothing works.
Does anybody have Snapchat working without GAPPS?
Is there some way I can run Snapchat in a sandbox or stop...

Root cloak for xposed works fine for me
>>54813519
Why aren't you coding?
Have you installed gentoo?
>>54813543
Just gives me an error on sign in
>>54813545
I've installed gentoo, didn't help
Does this happen to anyone else?
>Search Google for an obscure but-should-be-obvious problem
(usually for Google products actually. is it just me or does Google remove more settings with each update?)
>First result, click
>Forum post of some kind, sometimes XDA sometimes something else
>First response to question is "Maybe you should use Google or any other search engine instead of asking painfully obvious questions on this forum!" then...

the issue stems from mass stupidity
when there is a new user posting stupid shit they usually didn't read the manual, or even search
it's too hard to distinguish retarded cunts from people with legitimate issues that haven;t been resolved
not a defense for being an asshole like that, but it makes sense
>>54813445
This. Ignorance is the only true evil OP. Like half the posts on /sci/ could be answered with a simple google search.
>>54813445
I would like to think this but the only time I resort to Google is when the manual is too convoluted to pan through (no ctrl f) or the manual doesn't have the answer. The energy it takes for them to whine is twice the energy it takes for them to pass the post or answer it if they know the answer (which they obviously don't)
I ALREADY OWN A PC

Have you done online education? Is it comparable to old irl studying? Do you have any diplomas?
i looked at some lynda.com, udemy, coursera and mit ocw stuff. i like mit ocw stuff a whole lot. lynda is decent but should cost less and no one should pay for udemy. coursera has a few cool courses.
are you talking about online colleges tho? fuck those unless you have no other options. junior college is likely better.
>>54813218
>online colleges
I wasn't talking about colleges, but do those require you to physically travel to do exams? That doesn't sound bad at all. Here's those are called Open University, and been available for a long time before the Internet, and required minimal presence (often no more than once a week).
>>54813168
I did, i have, means shit, go for university... Unless you want to learn something than online or paper books are good too
https://github.com/tmux/tmux/issues/428
systemd developers are asking tmux developers to add systemd-specific code
>people will actually defend this
>>54813103
>Debian
This is why we can't have nice things.
>>54813103
Look, systemd is just the way things are now. Deal with it. Code gets stale with age and we need new, modern code running on modern systems. If you want to keep running your ancient legacy code on vacuum tubes, PLEASE don't try to convince us that's how we should be writing modern init systems.
I will take any criticism of this message as an admission that you hate women and minorities in tech.
