I know it's a bit of a meme to criticise American food and this certainly was not my first time in the US but I never noticed before how insidious it is. Everything is so heavily seasoned and palatable, I mean for fuck's sake, you have sugar in your coleslaw. I bought a "fruit cup" of apple slices because I wanted some fruit and it came with a caramel dip. A fucking caramel dip. I felt sick from the food for the first few days but eventually I became acclimatised. I gained 9lbs in two weeks, 3 of which were ostensibly sodium bloat.
Maybe food in the UK is just really bland. I'm in a similar situation and it's pretty balls.
Although I was bigger than even most of the men here, so I'm pretty fudged. I've lost 140 lbs and have 60 lbs to go, I'd say. I'm mostly losing the weight to make sure I can take care of my mother in her last years more than caring about finding love at this point, though.
I just wish I could put on muscle like men can in their arms...It's the absolute worst part of my body for me and it's hard to cover it up.
I'm wondering if I can go female bear mode to try my best at combatting the loose skin and filling it out as much as possible.

So much this. Also - traditional farming works because plants which humans cannot eat, were fed to animals for extra food. This is extremely land efficient and provides necessary dietary protein. Where we, as a civilisation, fucked up, is when we started to grow crops specifically to feed livestock.
Essentially, if we were efficient with farming, we would use 1/10th of land and fertilizers, were much healthier and had a diet of approximately 60-80% plant and rest in animal products.
