I've been lifting for 4 months total on a -800 cut and just did 1x5 1pl8 OHP.

What's your excuse?
>>
>>36475106

It took you four months? Nice one, Susan.
>>
>>36475106

Routine? Method for adding weight to the bar?

Assuming this isn't ebin b8, I'm in the same boat and getting frustrated by my rate of progress.
>>
>>36475179
Nah man not bait at all. So I started lifting 4 months ago like I said at 6'4" 245 lbs or so. Overhead press quickly became my favorite lift so I end up doing it twice a week, usually MF on a MWF lifting schedule

I started OHP around 60 lbs the first time i went to the gym, and it took about a month and a half to get up to 80-85 or so, adding 5 lbs each time

I was using straight curl bars at that time, and then moved to a gym that has an actual barbell so I started using that for OHP. I was immediately able to do 95 4x8 on it which was really surprising to me

That was about a month and a half ago. I have recently been doing 4x8 of 105 OHP, but today I was like "fuck it lets see if i can do a pl8" and i did 1x5 and was again very surprised I could do it

each time i decided I was ready to up the weight***
>>
>>36475106
gj man. The Press is my favorite lift. Keep up the hard work. Keep us posted.
>>
>>36475106
does being a scrawny manlet count as an excuse

I failed 105lbs today brehs
>>
>>36475316
>6'4" 245 lbs or so
This is my excuse. I'm not a fatass.

I can do 1pl8 1x3 after more than a year of lifting, but I'm also 6'1", 185lbs.
>>
>>36475316
Lmao no wonder you can press 135, you weigh almost double that. That's like me bragging about pressing 85 lbs
>>
>>36475316

kek 135/245 = 55% bodyweight. keep trying.
>>
>>36475607
Presslets when will they learn?
>>
>>36475607
>>36475585
Critical reading skills seem to be missing. That's where I started. If you also remember I said i was on an -800 cut, which means that i've lost almost 50 pounds by this point >>36475576

Still OP: i'm 6'4" 200 now, which actually make my BMI 0.1 less than yours, so actually statistically you're the fatass
>>
>>36475570
yeah man i came at it from the other side of the scale so it was much easier for me. you're gonna make it, just remember zyzz is spotting you on every lift
>>
I'm a DYEL skelly (full Auschwitz mode and no exaggeration) and I've been lifting for two months now.

OHP is by FAR my weakest lift. I cannot even fathom doing 1pl8 at this stage. I'm currently still at 7.5kg per side. Not even half way there.

Having NO shoulder muscles at all certainly doesn't help this situation.

I'm not making excuses, I'm just saying I suck at it. I'll keep persevering.
>>
>>36476184
We've all been there m8. I started with 2.5lbs per side and now I'm at 35lbs per side after 5 months. Just keep pushing, if you feel like you're getting stuck, then deload by a bit for a workout or 2 and then try again.
Just remember to not let it turn into a push press/

we're all going to get it lads.

>being fat helps you push weights over your head

I'm more than interested in hearing why /fit/ thinks this.

I would grant that fat guys will have stronger legs, due to more load, but the muscles involved in The Press™?
>>
Sure 135 is decent for a beginner but nothing to brag about. I could do 95 my first time. I'm sure there's some fat guys that could do 135 the first time in the gym.
>>
>>36476597
>fat guys press more because of the fat

Still waiting on an explanation for this.

took me 1 month to get 1rm 1pl8

Some guys are naturally stronger and eating more will increase muscle mass overall. I knew a fat guy that could bench over 200 without training.
>>
>>36475106
>What's your excuse
I don't look like a fucking hippo
>>
>>36476439
It's not a muscles used things. The guy is bragging that he made gains on a deficit.

He has mountains of calories strapped to his body.
>>
>>36475106
My excuse is hitting OHP on a 2k deficit for 15 reps 1 pl8

You aint shit, your momma aint shit, your fucking dog aint shit bro

>>36476718
>eating without training will build muscle mass

This is untrue.
>>36476746
>Your body can convert fat to gains

This is also untrue.

>>36476756
this is true

Each lb of fat can give off 31 cals a day for use. More energy = bigger lifts.
>>
>>36476789

Weight lifting is an oxidative process - your muscles use leucine and oxygen to do their work.

Fat really just provides energy to your organs to free up protein for muscle building.
>>
>>36476789
Any human in a first world country will eat well enough dietary fat to suffice.

Regular Protein intake is required for muscle growth, as well as regular training.
>>
>>36476756
>eating without training will build muscle mass
coming from a former fat ass I can tell you this is true
most kids have some kind of activity in their life and it makes a difference when you eat a lot
>>
>>36476981
>muh anecdotal evidence

Thanks champ, wouldn't have guessed that children play games, but this is an 18+ website, so run along now.

I'm a 5'9" manlet and my OHP started at 50kg. I hit 1pl8 2 weeks later. What's your fucking excuse, weak faggot? At your size you should be double that in 4 months.

My excuse for not being this pathetically weak is that I actually ThePressed 1pl8 for 5 on my first day at the gym, you pathetic weak faggot.
I also deadlifted 2pl8. With one arm, that is.
