If you are set on pretending like you aren't trying, do something like rowing, a team sport, or something fun/social that people often do without the focus being mainly on getting in shape.

You could also consider adding biking to your commute (if you have a commute), since it is pragmatic in addition to helping with fitness. Generally faster than public transportation (at least in my city).
