I lost 35lbs since April, the only real difficult part was going cold Turkey on soda. Quitting soda gave me withdrawals worse than tobacco, shit was weird, it reminded me of a mild alcohol withdrawal
I did some research and it turns out that alcoholics often end up having problems with soda and other sugary drinks when they stop drinking, and that a B vitamin deficiency often causes it.
