Wew today was scary at work.
One of the guys I'm training for the incoming meet was doing some benching today after doing some heavy volume two days ago.
He said his shoulder was feeling "kinda bad from the deadlifts" - he tested his DL 5RM yesterday, and had to use straps. But his form looked really weird, it was like as if his traps couldn't keep his shoulders up, they were being pulled down hard from the weight... he did smash the 5 reps though, if you ignore the bad shoulder lockout.
So today after his third warmup set he said his shoulders were feeling "sore". I asked if it was his biceps tendon (this happened to him 3 months ago), but he said he didn't think so. I told him we would do another warmup set, and if he still felt sore we would stop benching and do something else.
So he did the set, and said his shoulder was fine. So we kept going.
He got to around 94%, going for a single for 3 sets.
I helped him unrack, then he lowered the bar... and then, after the bar barely left his chest, his arms just dropped (thankfully the bench has safeties).
I got super scared, thought he had torn a tendon or something...
But thankfully it was just his biceps acting up. He said he was still feeling some pain but lied.
So we got him off the bench and into doing some DB supinating curls
After two sets, his pain was totally gone. We did some chinups and widegrip pullups, some squats, and he went home.
Still, this was pretty scary and legit my fault. I didn't do my job as a coach properly, and put him into a position where he could've seriously injured himself, instead of getting him away from the bench when the signs of pain started.
Lesson learned, though.

5'5 105lbs to 130lbs in about 4 months.
Been lifting for 1.5 years, although took a ~3 month break because of some pretty serious fucked up shoulder syndrome.
Been lifting srs for that near four months now.
My bench is absolute shit and no matter what I seem to try it doesn't help.
I can bench 135 for 5rm but it literally feels like my left shoulder or elbow is going to fucking snap. I have a pretty hard time keeping scap retracted after first few reps and also using my heels to do that upward dick thrust looking movement.
I keep trying to get my form correct using just the bar, but it always seems to hard to lower and raise in such a controller motion instead of just going fast.
Also I seriously want to fugg Trappy

Anyone ever have this thing where one arm just seems to "give out" when trying to lower a bench press rep? It's almost like you can't lower it slowly once it gets heavy enough. Been doing hammer curls, some slingshot work, seems to be helping but it's fucking annoying.

I slept for 9-10 hours last night, i have never felt this well rested and good at the gym for as long as i can remember

Bench 77.5kg 3x3 (3 rep PR, 2.5kg off my 1rm)

I am approaching the end of Phase 1, especially on bench. it's getting harder and i'm lowering my rep expectations, but i'm definitely stronger and have much better form than before my deload
PS. Switching to paused bench is the best thing ever, seriously i'm making so much better progress.
Going to start a new round of deloaded TM on Monday so tomorrow I'll just squat 3x5 at like 90% of my 5rm and do some upper body bb shit
I'm going to attempt to clean up my diet as I've been eating really nothing but absolute garbage recently and I do need to lose about 20 lbs and I figure the deload is as good a time as any to get diet on track as I won't be needing to eat like a horse all the time
