Not too many. I worked downtown in a major city, so I was almost never alone. The city just has such a dense population that you can't go anywhere without witnesses. That keeps the crime down. One guy from our store was mugged, once, but not badly hurt.
I had male friends who worked the rural areas and the suburbs, and they got robbed frequently. It is easy to lure them out to an address in the middle of nowhere, hold them at gunpoint, and take their cash. I know stores in some of those areas won't hire female drivers because of the high incidence of rape and assault.
The only bad situation I ever encountered, a guy gave me an address at an abandoned house and tried to lure me in. He kept calling me on my cell phone as I walked around the property, to say he was watching me and breathe heavily. It was horror movie-level spooky. Maybe he was just a prankster, and maybe he had ill intention. Either way I decided to just leave. After I left he kept calling the store to request they send me - the only female driver - back out to deliver his order. I canceled his order and marked it as undeliverable.

I am pizza delivery femanon.
Yes, I am aware that skinny girls probably get tipped more. It is the same with waitresses or any service profession. However, most people accepting pizza deliveries have a fat cash tip waiting before they ever see the driver. My "hairy, manly" male friends, and my SO also delivered pizza and usually pulled in more cash than me in a shift. Sometimes a LOT more. I'll be honest, navigating traffic backups was not my strong suit, many were better drivers than me.
The only way to make shit tips at a busy store is to not work and not take deliveries. If you sit on your ass in your car smoking pot 30 minutes out of every hour, and show up late to every house, you will make lousy tips.
If you run your ass off and take every order that is offered to you, you will make money. If you agree to sweep floors, fold boxes and wash dishes in the downtime, you will get assigned more deliveries, and you will make money. It is that simple. More deliveries completed = more tips.
That seemed to be the biggest factor, in any service job I had. Waitress, barista, whatever. The people who took on the most work made the best money.
The people who were driven made better tips, even if they were fatter, hairier, and uglier than than the pretty people who sat on their asses.
Appearance bias definitely exists, but it doesn't impact delivery drivers as much. Bartenders will tell you that the pretty, flirty ones - male and female - make better tips. And receptionists are usually hired based on looks, because a company wants a pretty face to greet clients.
