HOW DO I FIND A GOOD PHYSIOTHERAPIST FOR SPORTS INJURIES?

ALL OF THEM DON'T UNDERSTAND LIFTING AND THINK IT'S HARMFUL AND SHOULD BE STOPPED.

PLEASE! I LIVE IN ONTARIO, CANADA IF IT HELPS OR SOMEONE CAN RECOMMEND A GOOD ONE!

>specialist for how exersize effects the body
>thinks lifting is harmful to the body

Gee, bud do you also believe vaccinations are killing inner-city colored youths? (I do)

Just brush off their comments and stop being an autist. My physio used to be a powerlifter and is bro-tier, but he says deads are probably the worst lift on the back.

I'm just trying to look for a PT who actually understands lifting.

A lot of them do not understand it
>>
>>37891518
Just educate them and point them in the right directions. I did that for my cheap ass endo.

Wat...

How am I suppose to do when that when I say "My shoulder feels unstable when I overhead press" and they ask what that is and when I show them they say "WHAT??!! PRESSING SUCH A HEAVY WEIGHT OVER YOUR HEAD IS DANGEROUS!" or they give you some bullshit rotator cuff exercises you could've googled
>>

>PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Do you have an underlying ailment?
>>
>>37891589
Yes I had surgery on my shoulder and I'm still having some trouble with rom and it feeling good quite a while later

Tell them you're a competing powerlifter and do this professionally. Then show them the movement, they should be able to help you out.

Also, those googled stretches are a big part of physiotherapy. They look like bullshit but they work for those who need them.

>Also, those googled stretches are a big part of physiotherapy. They look like bullshit but they work for those who need them.

Well yeah but I don't really need a person to show me them, especially paying them money. I can see how it could be useful for an elderly person who can't watch a youtube video and understand what's going on but external rotations are pretty self-explanatory.

>Tell them you're a competing powerlifter and do this professionally

I'm mostly DYEL by /fit/ standards but even if I was a IFBB pro it wouldn't help them understand the concept of lifting any better. I dunno

Look specifically for a sports physio, much better than a regular one.
>>
Advantage for athletes in markham. I went there and it was preeeeetty good. None of that lifting is bad bs either, its a gym as well

Looks for a sports medicine doctor. Book an appointment, describe your issues, and ask for referral to a sports physio.

Unlike the general orthopedic doc/physical therapist combination who are just looking to get the general population back to their daily lives (not a bad thing at all), sports medicine doc/sports physio therapist look at injuries with the specific mindset to get your back to your desired level of athletic activity.

Yeah true. That's what I've experienced. It's alright certainly but it feels like it was mostly designed for elderly people in mind.

>sports medicine doc/sports physio therapist look at injuries with the specific mindset to get your back to your desired level of athletic activity.

How exactly do I find a good one? From googling and search on reddit and shit they all seem nearly the same and most seem like quacks with almost all offering "acupuncture" and chiropractor shit. Seems like a scam

>>37891700
What issue did you have? Kinda looks some crossfit memeshit, doesn't even seem they offer legit PT
>>
if you have any friends that play high level club sports, just ask who their physio is and if they do private consults.

I had shoulder tendonitis from swimming/football, along with overdeveloped traps compared to my rhomboids.
>>
Who else /rotator cuff/?

>tfw can't even bench my max because one shoulder starts giving out

Just fuck my gains up pham.
>>
>>37891773
Close to that.

Fuck this shitty country

>>37891765
Was it actually that good? What did they have you do?

i need like postop physio so it's a bit different I guess. I'm honestly considering just driving to Toronto to one that actually knows what he's doing.

I don't but if i did I'm pretty sure they just leave the country if they're high enough level to warrant getting top-tier immediate care.

not high level as professional, but semi-professional and that sort of thing.

a lot of rugby clubs here in australia have physios who also have private clinics. so they work with premier grade players who feed into professional teams and also private patients. it could be similar there.

I'd go in and get a massage (which was actually pretty painful since i was so tight) and then I got ran through a workout focusing on my weakpoints to strengthen my shoulder. One issue is that its pretty expensive, but other than that i thought it was good
>>
>go to physio
>ask them if they have CSCS as well
Not freaking hard man.
>>
>>37891343
look up the ortho/physio of a pro sports team near you

go to him
>>
>>37891817
This. My old physio treated the north sydney bears and the woman who owns the practice treated Olympic sailors and skiers.
