I liked TASbot last year. This year it was godawful. A regular old speedrun with no exploits at all of VvVvV... wow. Not to mention the other games were even played on emulator instead of directly on console like they did last year.
In general, I dislike GDQ a lot more than before because before they used to showcase the fastest runs instead of the "glitchless" ones. Glitches and exploits are what's funny/interesting, not some autist running through a game moderately fast with cringeworthy commentary/"jokes"

They said that the super mario world 2(?) run was done on an emulator simply because the original hardware crashed during the exploit. But I get what you mean, the change from "look at this really insanely specific set of circumstances and it's outcome" to "hurr, da same joke, franker face z" is disappointing.

Most of the really popular games have already been done a thousand times at GDQs though that's the problem. So if they want to have a popular game, (and they do because popular games rake in the jew bucks) in the marathon without repeating the same run over and over they have to start getting into obscure, irrelevant categories.
Honestly the part that bothers me the most about GDQs is the introduction of non-speedrunners into the event. When it was just the runners and the event was smaller it was much more relaxing and focused purely around the games. Now 90% of the people in the audience don't even speedrun and the main focus is on being ebinly hilarious so that you can get more views for your shitty twitch channel.

speedrunning as a streaming event peaked about 2 years and has been slowly declining since. Viewership numbers are universally lower. On one hand speedrunning is a repetitive, autistic hobby that gets really boring really fast unless you are also an autist, but on the other most new age streamers are just unbearable to watch.
