>>
>>37848641
>Is that smart though?
You're the one that wants quick progress. Powerlifting isn't smart.

That being said, Smolov Jr. for bench is perfectly fine as long as you have decent form and sparse injury history.

>Seems like I'll just get an overuse injury.
Maybe.
>>
Alone at his computer young bit George decided he had enough
He filled up a bag with his belongings but left all his stuff
Young boy George left his London home
In search of kingdom in which he could claim the throne

Down a long and dusty road he heard a cry of a fair maiden
Beaten by bandits and left to die
A single tear rolled down her eye
Young boy George knelt her
He offered her a swig of his cider

She rolled to her side and ignored George's offer
For she was waiting for a knight to prosper
But atlas young boy George arrived who was a tosser
For his frog like eyes and lanky frog arms he was an imposter
Of the young knight she wanted to see
But that didn't stop young boy George you see!

He stood and his feet and hinged at the hips
He grabbed the fair maiden with a the tightest of grips
He pulled back and lifted the maiden from the ground beneath her
She rested on his shoulders, as he was her Chauffeur
Held in the snatch grip he carried the young maiden back to her castle
Good laughs were had but she was a hassle

When young boy George finally arrived his arms were weak
Her flimsy body was not as sleek
As expect for a young maiden lady
Her bone structure seemed kinda shady

A large castle door towered before them
Young boy George was sore to the thumb
And he dropped the fair maiden to the floor
Where she not alright anymore

Tears down her face she began to cry
She looked at George with one final sigh
As she did not want to finally say goodbye
Her time with George was that to be treasured
Even if the the journey left them treasured

As George began to head back home
She beckoned him back to sit on her throne
She held George by her side
And said she made her feel special inside

Young boy George was ecstatic his dreams were coming true
A young fair maiden and chance for a new
He wandered inside and to his surprise
All that sat was a throne inside
The castle was bare, walls were dusty
The hall was baron and the pipes were rusty

How does Smolov even work? Why does it give "faster gains"? Buzzwords aside "you shock your body blabla", I doubt that you build muscle at an accelerated pace with it and then it's more of a peaking/skill thing. And peaking isn't really strength gain
>>
>>37848694
>Why does it give "faster gains"

High frequency.
High Volume.
Undulating Rep Ranges and Intensities.
Specificity.
Over-reach and peaking.

>peaking isn't really strength gain
Yes it is.
>>
>>37848694

You kind of do. Its not some supercharged steroid gains, but its high volume high frequency hard work - which results in more mass gains in a given period than less work, assuming it doesn't break you.

And the skill thing is pretty important. Strength is a skill.
>>
>>37848709
>>37848712
It just goes against the "more isn't always better" idea though, thinking in terms of the vaguely defined MRV.
>peaking is strength gain
No? It's just realizing your potential strength
>>
>>37848660
What is this place young boy George pondered
Even the maiden was worried she had George wondered
They arrived to the throne where he sat
His rugged boots on the carpet were brushed by a cat
He picked up the feline and placed it on his knee
Where is purred and padded with glee

The young fair maiden bowed to george
And thanked him for his heroism she had adored
She asked if what he'd like for a reward
At that moment George had risen like a board
There was one thing in his mind that he couldn't ignore

He asked the fair maiden to lift up her frock
And she compelled and showed him her cock
A sweet feminine undertone, a sweet smile and moan
While it stood as stiff as bone

Young boy George was hit by surprise
He couldn't believe what was before his eyes
He asked the maidens name
She replied Trappy-Chan in a voice that was time

George's heart fell
for a name so beautiful thst put him in a spell
O trappy my trapp
y he cried
Please reward by being my bride

Tears ran down her face and she smiled with joy
as George was the goy
That she had longed for since she was a young boy

And they all lived happily ever after

the end
>>
>>37848723

More generally is better.

Right up until the point that you overdo it and start getting fucked up. Smolov is almost Bulgarian-esque in its willingness to break the 99% to find the 1%.
>>
>>37848723
>It just goes against the "more isn't always better" idea though
Volume is the main driver of strength. More is always better until more isn't better anymore.

That being said, always do the bare minimum to drive progress. Connective tissue is finite.

>peaking is strength gain
No? It's just realizing your potential strength
After a cycle of Smolov Jr. you will not regress back to your original bench PR unless you don't capitalize on your new work capacity.

No, it's not. Peaking is a process of coming to full recovery for a specific event. You don't gain ztrength, you reduce exhaustion.

>Peaking is a process of coming to full recovery for a specific event. You don't gain ztrength, you reduce exhaustion.
You're picking nits. The process of overloading your body builds strength. Peaking (reduction of volume/intensity) allows you to demonstrate that strength, plus any supercompensation.

"Peaking" alone does not build strength, obviously.

>>37848621
This guy wants pounds on the bar. He didn't say anything about being a god-damned dirty hipster about it.

>>37848758
thats just tapering, peaking also involves more specific work (high intensity, low reps) leading to your muscles being more efficient at 1rms
