Are trap deadlifts a meme or will they work as well as with a barbell? What's the difference on strength gains and mass?

Please (you) I'm serious

it turns it more into a squat/deadlift hybrid - so it allows you to use your quads more.

there's no real reason to do them if you're squatting and deadlifting. its probably useful if you don't have a squat rack
>>
There a lot easier, I can use lmao2pl8 more than on normal deadlifts
>>
I would not use them to substitute squats/deadlifts buy they are a good accessory

My HS coach told me trap bar are for high reps/dynamic banded deadlifts for conditioning.
whereas straight bar are for heavy deadlifts (strength oriented). Which is probably why you rarely see athletes doing straight bar deadlifts during on season

pretty dumb desu

there's nothing that makes one or the other better for dynamic effort
>>
I use it just because it's just so much more comfortable than a barbell. Every time I bang the bar on my knee it ruins the whole workout.

Plus Schaub uses one.
>>
I do them sometimes because I don't like to deadlift more than once a week.

>4pl8 deads for reps on a straight bar? cool
>2pl8 deads for reps on a hex bar? FUCK MY LIFE ARGH THE PAIN

what the fuck is wrong with me
>>

it should be the opposite
>>
it's closer to a squat than a deadlift.
>>
do Hise Shrugs
>>
I do them to get used to heavier weight.

Think of board bench press, trap bar deadlift is the board bench press of the deadlift.

If I max at 500 lbs, I usually will attempt anywhere from 525 to 550 on a trap bar and do SLOW AS FUCK NEGATIVES BRUH

Do remember to hinge at the hips and treat it like a deadlift, though, otherwise youll just do the trap bar squat.

Sir Meme Rippetoe thinks they are dangerous

Naw senpai that what blocks are for

if i didnt have a rack i'd be doing trap bar deads and squats for sure

can also do bent rows, ohp but it's kinda sketchy without a rack and upright rows might actually be good because of the hammer grip used

you can also do jump squats with them and build a massive vertical leap
