Only reason I might look more ripped this year I think in pics is ive been doing the higher fat lower carb diet thing. do a ton of different shit thats the way to go. treat it like any other muscle group. do shit like woodcutters, leg lifts, russian twists, flutter kicks, stationary ab rotations, bicycle crunches, theres a ton of shit. go for stuff that works every section (core, obliques, and lower abs). ive been dedicating 1 sometimes 2 days a week to abs and i'm getting a lot of results but that's just me. good luck!

Body fat percentages are so fucking hard to estimate. There are so many factors that go into it that any guess is likely to be at least a few percentage points off, which is a lot of error when then numbers are so small. If I said you were 13%, give or take 3%, you could be anywhere from 10% to 16%. Like another anon said, don't look at numbers, look at the mirror. I spent a lot of time religiously weighing myself like an autist and worrying about hitting a certin bf% before bulking. All this did was postpone my bulk, which made me look better than cutting that extra 5lb.

22m/180lbs/6'0 - you guys think it's time to start cutting?

2 years ago I was 270lbs. last year I was 145lbs with virtually no muscle mass. i've been lifting for 3/4 a year, kind of semi bulking I guess.

Average/skinny fat. But that can be easily fixed with you cycling every single day/cardio for at least 30 mins a day with weight lifting. Find yourself a split routine that has more accessory workout in bodybuilding.com or something. But if you feel that your form for squats, diddy and bench is still off then stick to SS for bit more for practice.

If you wanna build mass, forget about abs. It's better to lose it for a bit and focus on building mass by eating lots. Then cut down and have abs again but more defined ones.

Just started lifting a week ago. How do I know if I should cut or bulk? I'm cutting right now but, I see people with my body type that are bulking and I don't know if should even be cutting.

Do clean bulk. Eat real clean and don't forget to get your cardio on everyday for 20~40mins. That is what I'm doing. You could cut but that's a waste of time in my opinion, you should just eat and gain muscle first.

You have made a lot of progress, but that progress was mainly fat loss, not muscle gains. You have muscle, but not enough to cut and look good. But that is my opinion. Do what ever you like to do.

That depends on your fitness goal. You could cut right now, but since you don't have any visible gains you might end up looking too thin. If I were you I'd bulk up and gain more muscle, then cut.

I don't know your fitness goal, but I do know that you want muscles. So that means you should be doing a bulk. Without calories, muscles won't come to you..., so don't be afraid to eat. People view calories as enemies but it's actually not, calories should be your best friend. As long as you do your daily cardio, hit the iron as hard as you can and do a CLEAN bulk you will not look like a fat mess. The more muscle you get, the more it gets harder to put on fat since your muscle causes your metabolism to go faster. And even if you did put on fat, if you gained muscles it'll easily strip off just by doing a 100~200cal caloric deficit for like a month and cardio everyday. (Calories equals muscle, muscle equals to fast metabolism, fast metabolism equals lean body).

Look up Macro nutrients. It'll tell you the rule of the balanced meals and nutrients... But really though, it is not that complicated. Eat your clean carbs and protein about the same amount of grams daily, and go easy on the bad fats, instead use like coconut oil or avocado, any clean fats to cook/season your meal so that you get that in your system.

I hear ya bro, "a little more fat gain" is all good in my book. It's inevitable when I bulk as well. But a good (healthy) ratio that won't set you up for getting unhealthilty overweight is 1lb of muscle for every lb of fat. Bulk for 6 months, add 12 pounds, 6 of which will be muscle. 2fat:1muscle ratio is pushing it but still somewhat ok. This guy is in the 3x-4x ratio. If he continues on that trajectory he will be 50+ pounds of fat overweight in 6 months, and I don't even want to imagine 12 months. Even with his muscle gains he will have done more damage to his body than good, not even in regards to looks but overall health.

That's kinda the point of this phase amigo. Anyone can crash diet down to low BF, post their best physique shot in a cbt and hold it for two weeks, then blow up again. That's how I fucked up my first cut last year. Post-cut summer is meant to see how long you can actually hold on to that body you worked hard bulking>cutting for, before focusing on adding mass come fall through to next spring. That's how I plan my bulks/cuts, at least.

You also pointed out useful info - the significant difference in appearence from flat/dehydrated vs full. How can you gauge (and let others learn from) that difference without frequent pictures documenting what you looked like at each stage? Example would be this pic from early summer when I was still in a deficit, completely flat and dehydrated. Chest is looking much better now (still not great but eh), and it's not because I magically added significant mass in 6 weeks. It's just different stages of leanness/diet.

No worries man, different strokes for different folks. From the beginning I've always found classical leaner physiques to be the most attractive. Grills like it as well, but that's not really a concern just a fringe benefit. Literally not a single person male or female I've interacted with in real life, not /fit/, has ever remarked that my body is "underdeveloped" as you call it, because it factually isn't compared to average men. They are all skinnyfat, dadbod, or worse. Anyone who works out for two years and keeps tabs on their diet wont end up "underdeveloped", so long as you're not comparing them to their max FFMI potential which is an inane argument only fitizens make. This is a picture of what an underdeveloped body looks like. I know, because it was me.
