So I didnt lift for the first half of the semester and started back again in April.

I began TM after a couple weeks of LP. first ID, april 15 with:

squat @ 265 lbs, 1x5
bench @ 200 lbs, 1x9 (lol?)
DL @ 330 lbs, 1x6 (IDK)

now:

squat @ 320 x5
bench @ 250 for 2 / 1 / 1 / 1 (gonna go to 5 x 1 this week)
DL @ 380 x 5

Bench has been stalling a bit mostly because i lost some weight i think, but also cuz i need more volume

I've come to the conclusion I must have one of the worst builds for squatting. My 1RM is at around 150kg and it feels like absolute hell. My deadlift is a tad over 200kg and feels pretty decent. Bench is meh. God dammit, do I hate squats. Front squats are cool, though.

Hey!

I been doing SS for 3 weeks, starting on my forth week today and since week 2 i've been having some discomfort and pain in the thigh area, picture related. I can feel it slightly some times when walking and running and when i am lying in bed on my side and move the leg. It first came in a squat i did but i have no pain or discomfort when squatting in general. I am wondering if its just weakness in my hip abductor or hip flexors? And if i should keep going and hope it goes away or if i need to do some rehab/prehab exercises? I do stretch the area but my hips are kind of tight in the hip flexors and hamstrings. Any suggestions?

And should i start doing power cleans now? deadlift is higher then squat by 10-20 kilo

I think you could do them with 45 lbs, or 45 kg if you have that, probably.

People slide 1 kg plates under their deadlift plates to strip the weight, so I assume that should be ok...

If in doubt, ask the gym owner.

I'll use the 45kg plates as blocks as they're thicker metal and use the rubber coated plates (only got 2) to stop the metal plates hitting metal as the rubber plate is slightly larger

Hi,

if you want to do power cleans, do them.

if you are doing SS and want to do powerlifitng, not really a good reason to do them.

if you just wanna do power cleans, then do them by all means.

I have had weird experiences with adductor pain, and it has only come about through sumo deadlifting. I didnt really do anything to get rid of it; it seems common for people when they start sumo to have adductor pain.

you could try do stuff like the hip airplane, frog stretch, etc, for adductor stretching.

Another thing is if you have a really, really wide squat stance, that will also entail more adductors than a narrower stance.

So if it ends up interfering, you might find that altering your stance can eliminate or mitigate the pain.

Sure!

Like I said, part of it might just be getting used to the movement--I wasn't sure if I made that clear in my last post.

But I found i had some hip pain when warming up, but on working sets, it went away.

So again, be mindful of the pain and what you can work through / fix / ignore, and what you can't, try to gauge if it starts to go away after you get used to squatting, and do the stretching if it helps.

If the pain increases or becomes strong i will back off and see. I also experienced that it was there in the warm up but it went away as i got trough the warm up and then felt nothing in my working sets.

If you are having valgus on the right knee the left could be compensating and taking the strain. You need to try and sit back into the squat. You can practice by doing pistol squats onto a box without weight. It'll help you feel out your form. While you are doing that get some knee sleeves and ensure that your are pulling the floor apart with your feet. It should feel like the whole foot is taking the weight and that your hips and knees are locked into the correct tracking position.

You mostly "feel" the muscles that are the weakest during complex compound movements.
That's why lots of people think they're not working their chest or lats when doing bench or chinups - they don't "feel" those muscles, even though they are the most important and strongest, and the ones that do the most work by far.
That's because they "feel" the weaker muscles instead.

So don't really worry or think too much about what you're "feeling". Unless those feelings are of pain ofc.

If it is a job thing, try to get up / walk around, maybe even stretch when you can.

If it is just a sitting on your butt thing and unrelated to a job, try getting up and walking a little every 30 m, some simple stretching maybe every hour or two.
