what does functional even mean? in what sort of situation would i need to pick up a really heavy ball or object
>>
I've always wondered what's the point of all that. I'm guess it's just a fun but pointless thing people like to do, like most sports
>>
Looks memey. Like movement coach memey

the thing about adaptations is that its based off specificity.

this is why people with different goals (powerlifting weightlifting marathon runners) have different goals which may overlap on the grounds of physical fitness but routines differ

tl:dr

for wot purpose m8
theres more than 1 way to skin a cat

I suppose functional is readily and easily applicable? And when are you going to need your muscles really for anything in this day and age unless your an athlete. If you think like that, then almost all training is meaningless
>>
Anyone remember when he came here awhile back and was outed for samefagging and shilling? Yeah, pretty sure he's up to the same shit now. Pls go

Any time you go into the gym and essentially manufacture strength beyond what you naturally have, it will never have a 100% carryover to anything else. Doubling your strength won't double your ability to do much of anything else although generally it can be very effective depending on what you're talking about. The point of strength training is to elicit general adaptations. These adaptations allow you to do specific activities more effectively. Functional strength is a misnomer because strength is not a specific adaptation in the first place - not to a relatively large extent.
