how do you come to grips with getting old

particularly when you haven't accomplished much, or at least close to what you intended a few years back

I'm turning 25 and I'll no longer be considered part of the 18-24yo range... it's depressing really.

anyone else struggle with this shit?
>>
I hate this feeling, my old friends have went their separate ways and I miss them so much, every night when I see old photos posted it brings me back and all wild shit we used to do, and knowing I'll never do it again fucking brings me to tears. I wish I can go back for just one more night.
>>
You sound weak. Grow up and be a man, anon. You little faggot.
>>
>>37771727
I'm 27 and am better looking, stronger, faster and more capable than when I was 17

It's all what you make it
>>
When your parents haven't accomplished anything it's not that hard to get over it.

I can understand if you come from a successful entrepreneurial tier family........but that aint the case, my parents ended up in a really shitty position due to their lack of financial abilities, damn boomers had it all and still failed.

Just achieving mediocrity for me would is being successful in life, based on the work-frame I had growing up.
>>
Turning 25 is not getting old. Youre hutting the prime of your life man! Im turning 30 in six months and i feel at the pek of my life with no foresight of recline. Im still doing festivals and partying gaming and lifting like i did ten yeara ago. Still while maintaining gf through ten years, job, house and a car. Hell i did ecstasy for the time last weekend! Its about how old you feel and not what the numbers says!.

And thats what i get from replying on a mobile. Hope it still makes some sense :)

I had a shit childhood and was neglected as a kid a lot. Only as I grow older do I realize how irresponsible my parents have been and as a kid growing up you do not stand still and think about it but now I cannot imagine doing such a thing. It makes me a little mad and aware that mom/dad are just human (as a kid you look up to your parents and don't think of major flaws).

I am glad I am older now but I can't imagine myself being like 60+. My dad is getting demented and I cannot imagine that happening to me.
>>
its probably not as bad as it seems

it's not rare to see someone who is 29 dating a girl who is 20

you can still get young pussy for many more years
>>
it's okay OP, 25 is still extremely young

just let this be a wake-up call that time doesn't stop for anyone, start being more responsible with your time and goals

people only care about age when they're failures

run with it making realistic goals. the more you sulk at the starting point the more time you waste. you can sonsider 25 old because that is all you have experienced. you will get to 30 and say the same thing. 35. 40. etc. this thinking is from your culture.

>>37771787
if anything op, this.

it is a debt lifestyle from the jump.

>>37772015
>>37772029
op life is only going to get better in all honesty. the only thing holding that back is your mentality of identifying yourself with the bottom of the latter.

>>37772086
but kids do stand still and think about what is going on, processing what they perceive.

>>37772097
that's a decent way to look at it.

also i'm moving to a big city in a few months, where it's perfectly socially acceptable to be slaying sluts well into your 30's, but i hardly know anyone there... what can i do to meet new likeminded people?
i'm thinking about joining a crossfit club just to socialize... hold me brehs
>>
>>37772414
the oldest trick in the world to find friends is group sports

pick one with a crowd that fits you and youll be golden

Wanna meet middle-class white people? Crossfit is your thing man

Wanna meet young urban alternative people? try bouldering

Generic dudebros? Soccer or rugby or football, depending on where you live

Down-to-earth working class bros? Try Boxing, Muay Thai or BJJ or Judo

Academic people? Try some meme martial art like karate or wing-chun
>>
>>37772471
i meet all kinds of people in all kinds of physical activities. you are highly inaccurate and i highly suggest no one listen to you other than your first sentence.

>22 years old and submitting bachelors thesis in 2 weeks
>will definitely not continue this line of career
>have some spare cash, enough to live comfortable for half a year
>theoretically i could finally produce the movie i always wanted to make, take proper preparation for a cage fight (mma), go travelling afterwards and generally have an awesome time

I just dont know guys, should i take off half a year, or should i start building my career right away? I dont have any future with my degree, and dont like it either, so im either gonna study again or try to find a vocational training. I just really would like to pursue some thimgs that i truly desire, but i also dont want to be that 30 year old guy who hasnt achieved anything in his life

Can some oldfags share some life Wisdom here with me?
>>
>>37772557
when you say off do you mean no work at all?

pick up a part time job. "but it's not going to help me in my career and resume"

trust me it will help 100% more than not having worked a part time job for 6 months. a 25hr work week with extensive mma training is very realistic.

you will gain developed work ethic and a conditioning of how processes work. get any shit job you can get. let them know what your plans are and be honest but not stupid. if you can't hold a shit part time job then it is all your fault.
>>
>>37772361
>but kids do stand still and think about what is going on, processing what they perceive.

Thing is I went through a lot fo bad shit. I had a funny uncle sort of speak till I was 8, my parents sort of cut ties and did the process but never thought well hey perhaps our kids were traumatized. So for years my sister who as a response to fear was fighting and aggression was given the task to babysit me without my parents even realizing that perhaps that wasn't such a good idea. So from the funny uncle I was yelled at in my face every day for wanting to play outside, my parents entirely blind never noticed this or thought it weird that all I did was sit on the couch and say nothing. In their mind it was; problematic factor removed, you have to be normal now! I was busy processing the first bit still and never thought that the second part could have been prevented easily if you used your brain. Now do I realize the second part after going to therapy for a year on my own accord.
>>
>>37772471
solid advice thanks senpai. some guy invited me to try bouldering with his group but i forgot all about it. think i'll give it a try. tho probably not alot of grills there
>>
>>37772567
yes when i say off i mean no paying job at all.

I would film a science fiction movie with an art friend who also happens to have nothing to do during that time. This would eat more time than a regular job. We're talking 8-12 hours a day for at least 3 months if the movie should at the very least be watchable.

I could of course hold a part time job in that time, my work ethic is not a problem at all. But i feel if i go down that road, why not choose a real career to pursue? i can handle mma and an 8 to 5 job, have before. Anything above 4 hours of training a day is extensive.

But in reality, how bad would a 6 month "gap" in my resumee fuck up my qualifications?

If i chose to work, i woukdnt be able to film this movie. And i feel like i wanna cross that of my list, know what i mean?

>>37772557
I don't want to come across as a dick, but hear me out.

If you are 22, no matter what you do you are going to make some pretty substantial fuckups. This isn't a mark against you as a person; life is complicated and your probably have no idea what you want. My best advice to you is to lean into the skid and go big with it. If you don't chase your pipe dream now it certainly won't get done at 32 with a mortgage and a receding hairline. If you can make it out of your 20s without substantial debt or a substance abuse problem, in my book you're doing ok. If you have a big idea like that, my vote is go for it. We're all going to end up fifty something gym teacher borderline alcoholics telling the same ten boring stories at community barbecues, and believe you me, most of the stories are going to be about things people almost did. If you have one balls out crazy idea you follow to the hilt, all of those "I could have gone pro" guys will boisterously one up you, but when they go home they'll sit in their garage drinking a beer in angry silence, intensely jealous that you had the stones to go for it. I'll be honest, that shitty suburban triumph doesn't stack up that high in the annals of history. But it will feel way better than his shitty suburban defeat.

At your age you're definitely going to know a handful of people for whom everything goes right. Don't take it personal. Some of them deserve it because of all their hard work, some of them don't. Getting frustrated about it changes nothing. Be friendly, rich people throw great weddings, being polite a handful of times can directly translate into a few of the best nights of your life.

Be careful who you take advice from, most people are self interested dicks who want to make everyone like themselves. Take advice from people you're ok ending up like - if you take diet tips from a fat person you'll end up fat. Don't take business advice from failures.
>>

Fuck off anon people have turned their life around at ages older than 25. Grab yourself by the scrote and do something about it if your not satisfied with life. I believe in you brah.

Continued because I ran out of room.

Wear a condom. At 22 you're old enough you could raise a kid, but you're young enough that if you have one that will be your whole life. Everything else you wanted to do will come second to raising a child. If you really want to be a dad go for it, but that will be the totality of your identity for at least a decade and every bullshit plan you came up with shooting the shit with your friends will be gone forever. You won't start a company, or travel Europe, or anything. If you want that go for it, but personally I think that is much too high a cost at 22. That shit gets way easier when you're more established if that's what you want. Personally, I'm a vasectomy guy so I'm cynical on the whole enterprise. Ymmv.

A lot of experiences that most people have talk about as being amazing are absolute trash. I went skydiving because people said it was supposed to be fun and it was absolute garbage. Most people's idea of fun is stupid. You know you best, I would have been much happier to go go karting than to jump out of a plane. Don't be misled by the delusion of crowds. Don't backpack across Europe. You see boring tourist shit you've seen photos of for years, and you take nothing unique from the experience. Spend two weeks in Paris instead. It's a beautiful city with even more beautiful girls. They're all morose and cynical and will go to bed with muscular foreigners in a desperate attempt to stave off the darkness for one more night. I'm assuming dudes too, if that's your bag. The city is full of strange and interesting museums, the food is amazing, and the public transit is cheap and effective. Spending two weeks anywhere is way better than pretending you can see everything worth seeing in a city in two days before you go to the next one.

Good luck - we're all going to make it.

25? You're worried about 25? Jesus Tapdancing Christ you are a pussy. 25 isn't shit. You can still be legally coddled by your parent's and current society expects nothing of you.

I am turning 35 this year and am in the best shape of my life and paying for little bitches like you and your pathetic feelz. That's with 3 kids and a great marriage.

Pull your sack out of your pelvic bone and man the fuck up.

thans for the advice old anon, really apprechiate

Im actually from germany, so what i meant with traveling is not your capitol city trip through europe, but i was thinking about going to thailand to compete in Muay Thai (Thailands national sport, a full contact sport allowing punches, knees, elbows and kicks), next to filming my own movie another lifetime goal of me.

Totally agree on the condoms part, i dont want a kid right now, im not even close to being ready for that kind of commitment

I think i will say fuck it, use up a good amount of my funds to make this movie happen, ill compete in the mma tournament and then ill go to thailand to fight. Man, im only young once.

I can sit a fucking office long enough for the rest of my life.

I'm 25, unemployed and I live with my parents.
The worst part is I wasn't even on the NEET path. I got a degree, I was working in my field, I continued with professional training, then the arse fell out of the economy where I am.
I got laid off, I couldn't afford my place anymore, and I've only had a couple of interviews in the last three months, despite having a degree and two years experience in my field and good references. Shit sucks. At least I'm not a leech though, I do things around the house, help my mom with her business and maintain a slower, but still active social life.
It feels like I'm at a point in my life where my career should be taking off though, so it's a bit depressing that it's stagnant.
I'm considering joining the navy (my education and experience is in GIS and real time map tracking) so I can use and improve my skills, and add the skills of a seafarer as well, but it seems like a big commitment and a big change.
All the same, being 25 isn't so old, especially considering as /fit/ men in the 21st century, our lifespan will probably be 90 or more years.

Literally exactly yes. Women are raised on a super intensive diet of unrealistic portrayals of romance, it leaves them looking for an ideal man that doesn't actually exist. The French have a long history of cynicism that is part of their national character. Lots of women reach a stage where, being unable to fulfill a deep emotional bond, they experiment with cheap, untethered sex. For the French this tends to come relatively early, usually the mid twenties, and they have a low obesity rate. Being simply present, exotic, and good looking means that you're available as a tool to be used.

As a man you have experienced the culture industry differently. You have been conditioned to want to fuck the shit out of hot but emotionally uncomplicated twenty somethings, and then leave without a real emotional connection. This is your opportunity to do so.

The culture industry is pornographic and prudish. It promises sex but leaves you with your dick in your hand, it promises intimacy but leaves you home alone. Knowing this, you can make yourself present to fill in the void left by a capitalist structure that is totally unable to address the needs that it creates. It is a hollow victory brought about by the alienating forces of capitalism, but better a hollow victory than a hollow loss.

Apparently that's my Frankfurt school slash red pill mashup for the day.
