Also, team sports are gay as fuck but they are also intense and fun. I've played ice hockey and soccer at fairly high competitive levels and rugby at less competitive ranks, and all three sports were very intense, athletically demanding, physical, and great fun, but also tremendously gay when it came to locker rooms, social shenanigans, playing tournaments away from home, etc.
On the other hand, I've also played tennis and boxed extensively, and while boxing is comparatively athletically demanding at competitive levels, it's not quite as intense (partly because you're resting at regular intervals and the scoring is subjective to judgement and your head is bit fogged from getting punched). Tennis is also fairly athletically demanding and also intense, but a very different kind of intensity from team sports.
Nowadays I just row crew and bodybuild, both of which are fun, and athletically demanding in a different way, more about mastering your body than pushing it hard, but neither sport I nearly as intense as the others I mentioned.
