I'm doing both. I also make sure to not look up when I squat. The pain is mostly in the lower back. On one rep I tried putting my back more perpendicular to the ground (not sure how to describe this) and the back soreness alleviated a but but there was a hell of a lot more pressure on my glutes/thighs. Was that supposed to be the correct form?

I do Justin Lascek's flavor of TM for squats, but regular TM for other stuff

My best squat is 535 on my own program.

My trick is actually using machines. I tried some low vol high intensity stuff for a long time and it was just too comfy.

My body just needs high volume to advance so i do a lot of lying leg curls and leg extensions.

A lot of people stick to barbell only and i feel like that was a huge mistake in my training. No one will judge you.

just be sensible with the weight.

My torso is inclined just like a regular lowbar, but when I go deeper than below parallel, the torso goes a bit more upright while the ankle angles close in and the knees push forward.
For the ascent, the butt just moves back and up as the torso regains the angle and then you go up.

Help me I don't know what to do. I'm skinny and have skinny legs, squatting was putting a good mass in my ass and legs but Idk if I keep doing squats I'd get a serious injury or something. And my left ankle is a little sprained Idk how I managed to have that sprained, maybe doing calf raises but this isn't a problem because I can't walk and put weight in my shoulders without pain in my ankle.

Back squat to build lowerbody strength.
Front squat to build technique, positioning, and back strength.
How high or low the bar is on your back makes very little difference. It's merely unspecific strength training. An accessory.
The important thing for weightlifters is to front squat.

Looking forward to a 585 squat in august. I'll get there. Best things that worked for me to build my squat were light paused squats, C2 rower and reverse hypers for active recovery, and focusing on form and depth with every rep.

Sounds like it could be more related to you not knowing how to time your hip:knee placement in the descent of the squat. Most people that have issues hitting depth or falling backwards are those that don't hip hinge effectively and are closing their knee joint to aggressively

You should go lower in training. Some of those reps weren't even IPF legal.
For competition you can do borderline attempts to try and gamble, but for training you should focus on reaching a consistent and safe depth, lower than what you would do in competition. Or when the comp time arrives, you will end up doing the reps even higher.

If you have difficulty reaching lower depth, do paused squats. That will make you more comfortable and used to going lower.

No need to go ATG though, that is a waste just like not breaking parallel, and requires a different technique than what you'll use in competition for the lowbar squat.

Jumped from 95 lbs to 205 lbs in my first month of SS then took a video and realized I wasn't going very deep and was rounding my back decently. So I dropped back to 175 and eventually switched to high bar cause I decided I liked it better. 200 was easy the other day and I'll be doing 205 tomorrow.

I'm no longer following SS I'm doing Greyskull with cardio on days in between lifting workouts and daily frequency sets of pushups and pullups. I do Back Squats Monday and Friday and Front Squats on Wednesday, adds some nice variety. Front squats are fun for anyone who doesn't do them.
