If I just came in and did "my job" regarding numbers I'd be bored as fuck. This is the "financial" side of the numbers.
I make my job fun and interesting by doing the "managerial" side of accounting. Which is analysis, project management, and creating efficiencies.
This is also why I have moved up so fast, I don't just do my work and enter numbers, I strive to think of easier/better/more cost effective ways to do things.
So yea, in short, take an abstract angle to whatever you do.

Just saying most of my graduating class had jobs well before they graduated. Accounting can open a ton of doors if you network and have a decent GPA.

I got a 700 math and 690 reading on my SAT with a 5 on my macro/mirco economics and a 4 on calculus BC what's my chances on being one of the dudes that make into an actual engaging job? Everyone I work with is intelligent. Personality and politics are how people advance. Don't be naïve and think you can become a decision maker right outta college. Takes more than book smarts to do that shit. Look into becoming a CFA if you are good with people. If you have sales skills, you can make a lotttt of money. Also, get an internship in whatever you decide to do.
