How to fix this pls. Also, general home gym maintenance thread
sandpaper it then put a colour shild on it
best way would be to sand blast it then get it sprayed but I dont see why it will work perfectly just the way it is

soak the rusty part in an acidic solution (vinegar, lemon if you dont have access to real chemicals) for an hour and then sandpaper it.worked on my dumbbells.

nice way to get a tetanus infection from deadlifting.you're ignorant af if you cant see why one would want to remove excessive rust from a barbell that scrapes your skin on so many exercises.
Wipe down with PCB etchant from radio shack, then go after it with steel wool or scotchbrite pads. It'll look a lot nicer than with sandpaper

That's fucking stupid. Ferric chloride won't react with iron. It's already ferric. Plus radio shack is dead.

Soak vinegar in a paper towel then wrap paper towel around bar. Use rubber bands if you have to.
Sauce: hints from heloise

Wire brush. It worked for me.
Soak a rag in CLR and let it sit there for a while. Take it off and rinse the bar.
Most of it should've come off but you can use a wire brush to get the rest
