I could very well be wrong, but I feel that a lot of people put far too much weight on going really, really, balls-out hard at the gym without enough focus on the diet/nutrition behind it. I've gotten reasonably muscular without much actual pain while training.

My deadlift is 435 for 5. My roundback deadlift is still well under three plates (admittedly I don't train it much).
Not that impressive really, but showing that we're in the same echelon of demonstration.

So I don't know man. I'm not trying to be a shit, since I know that's not helpful. It definitely sounds like you've built your back up pretty nicely. But I can't help but think that if you're near the limits of your back's capacity in a position that isn't anatomically neutral, you're in a much riskier, less stable position at the top.

I know that I've let my core get tired and my lower back round on heavy deads and it's made me sore after.
