Will exercise help me keep my beauty as I grow old?
>>
With proper diet, good sleep, avoidance of cigarette smoking, yes

Why good sleep?

SUNSCREEN EVERYDAY

obvious shop is obvious

41 here.

still pulling in the mid 400s, still running 2 miles in about 1330, I'm in better shape than any of my old pals.

exersize must include 2 things: consistency and intensity.

Diet must be solid. no junk food, no processed foods.

stretch everyday for about 15 mins or so

floss every day

sunscreen and moisturizer every day

well worth the extra work.

Sun damages your skin. Tanning is your body's way of trying to reduce that damage.

true, youngsters don't have consistency in that
I saw you in a different thread maybe, I think that a key concept for being in good shape at 40 is also: don't marry

>>37487473
not really

Your future self may beg to differ
Over 80% (I had the link for the paper somewhere) of the oxidative skin damage - and the main indicator for ageing - is UV damage.

I'm 47. If I hadn't been into fitness for my adult life, I'm sure I'd not only look worse off, but be much unhealthier. Colleagues and friends are starting to deal with chronic problems e.g. diabetes.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

One drawback: the fat millenials will hit the (socialized) health care system at the same as me. They will get preferential treatment because they are 15-20 years younger. Still, for my life I am choosing to be as strong and resilient as I can be.

I doubt it. Keep healthy and strong into your old age. Looking young (especially smooth baby skin) is not a social asset for men.

At 20 you're even glad to look 30. At 45 you may prefer to look a few years younger.
But it's not just looks. Skin in the bigger organ you have, a younger look means a healthier state.
I've had to remove a bunch of moles once my father discovered (by sheer luck) that he had some nasty melanomas. Guess what, he never used sunscreens and we're both pale as fuck. It turned out clean, but melanomas are kinda nasty. I know three persons who died of it, and I'm just 30.
