I got some pretty entertaining answers last time when I made a thread asking /fit/ some GCSE level anatomy and physiology questions

SECTION 1 THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
a) Define the sliding filament theory

b) What is the structure of Myofibrils?

c) Describe the role of the Sacrotuberus

SECTION 2 THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
a) Explain what is meant by the term coronary circulation

b) Why does the heart require a constant supply of blood?

c) What is meant by the valsalva effect?

SECTION 3 THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
a) In your own words, explain the size principle

b) In your own words, explain the all or none principle

c) Explain how the number of muscle fibres innervated by a motor neuron impacts on the type of movement created

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ANSWERS IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT

Also please add how long you have been into sports/fitness/lifting and how qualified (as in certifications) you are at it or anything relevant
Just trying to get a grasp of how educated /fit/ is, as many threads seem to have what I'd assume are trolls trying to spread "bro science".

1a it theorizes that filaments slide.
B Lego bricks
C he's Wolverines half brother and recurring nemesis-come-frenemy

>implying this level of anatomical minutiae is relevant to picking heavy things up for repetitions.

TbhFamalam, you really dont even need to know the names of your spinal erectors to make gains.

You could probably get aesthetic as fuck without ever learning the names of your deltoid heads

2a it's when you only have one bottle of corona so you take a sip and pass it around
B because otherwise it would die.
C Holt shit, I know this one. It's restricting an exhaled breath to increase a tolerance to pain or sustained exertion

B it describes the average /fit/ anons number of sexual partners
C no.

Funny answers like that are the reason I keep coming back
>>
1
a. Actin and Myosin proteins slide across eachother after troponin pulls on the myosin, revealing tropomyosin.
b. Myofibrils contain actin and myosin which are arranged in z-lines between h-zones.
c. Sarcotuberus is a ligament in the posterior pelvis region.

2
a. Coronary circulation is moving of deoxygenated blood through the body to be oxygenated by the lungs to be circulated throughout the rest of the body to support organs with oxygen, then returning back to heart and repeat.
b. Needs a constant supply of blood for atrioventricular pressure to keep blood moving by filling the chambers, then that stretch creates force, pushing the blood through.
c. Thoracic pressure change resulting in a change of venous return.

3
a. Motor units are recruited from smallest to largest
b. Motor units either do or do not fire, if they do then it fires fully, never half assed.
c. More muscle fibers and more motor units innervated = a stronger movement

It's been a couple years and I suck at explaining, but I think I got the general idea of each.
>>
>>37446653
you know the all or none principle is actually very interesting in terms of strength training, because it lifts a bit of a psychological burden from me?
>>
Docs have absolutely no clue about training / programming.
Just as all these questions have no relevance.

Everything else was above and beyond what I expect from my best students.
What are your qualifications if you don't mind me asking?

>>37446725
These are relevant to what sport science degree students have to learn.
These are not medical qualification questions.
These are the sort of things you need to know about if you have any health risks or are training someone who does.
Nobody is attacking your knowledge or implying that it affects your ability to lift.

hi is this the expert thread cause I got a question too
from my limited understanding, very low calorie diets are bad because they slow metabolism etc. I exercise every other day + 3 days a week of physically demanding work. In general, but especially on recovery days with no work, I'd like to eat more low calorie food like veggies. Will my high activity help maintain metabolism or am I gonna get yoyoed anyways? I could get enough food variety the rest of the week and get some generic supplements if necessary
>>
>>37447525
Your energy levels are my main concern. Snack throughout the day on stuff like fruit, veggies, or nuts (more specifically almonds) to help sustain energy levels and get adequate nutrients. Too low of calories is going to make you crash, too high you will gain weight, just right you will still see results and have energy throughout the day.

Also having high activity will keep your metabolism up just because your body needs calories to perform activity, more activity, higher metabolism, quicker rate of burning calories.
