I have to buy plates for a home gym after I shit myself squatting at the LA Fitness last Tuesday (diarrhea) :^(
I got a bar off Craigslist today so now I need plates. What pound increments do I get so I can buy as few as posible? Biggest lift right now is 360 lb diddly.

x6 45lbs and 2 of every other weight below that except 4 10s and no 35s, 12.5s, or 22.5s if they exist

If you plan on going above 270 lbs (plates + bar), then go for Olympic size.
I say this because CAP's highest rated standard (1 inch plates) bar is 250 lbs and the bar is about 20 lbs.
Personally, that is more than enough for fitness, but some people want to power lift.

>at least 4x 10s
>tho really as many as you can get your hands on cheap
10's are essential if you don't want to end up forking over a shitton of $$$ for complete dumb bell set

I have an 1 inch bar and I've loaded up to 230kg on it to deadlift and the bar is still as new.

It's your life. My main concern would be the bar snapping and cutting your body or even throat. It has happened.
