I swear to god my boyfriend's heart rate is lower when he's drunk. He only had the equivalent of three glasses of wine and it knocked him out and made him feel ill. Full disclosure: I myself am drunk, though I have high alcohol tolerance and good cognitive function under the influence, and checking his pulse, it seems a little slow.
He is an office worker who keeps a better diet than me but gets very little exercise. I am worried. Do any of you have any info or experience regarding the interplay of poor cardio and alcohol intolerance? Should I pressure him into seeing a doctor about his cardiovascular health? We've been together for a couple years and I swear his alcohol intolerance has gotten worse.
Doing a bit of google search on the side, but I figure it's worth trying crowd sourcing.

My post is about a weird thing that has me worried lately. The only reason I posted for once.

No - at least not from my experience.
Before i got /fit/ I could slam down a vodka bottle + more in a few hours on a night out. Now if I do that, I will in most cases either blackout or throw up.
I wasn't even fat before I became /fit/. I was 80kg @1.85m.

That thread cracked me up.
I think OP deserves a little explanation. Pharma grad here.
No, alcohol tolerance does not correlate with cardio. There's two factors: First, your body mass. More body mass, more blood to dilute, more alcohol tolerance.
Second, the amount of alcohol you drink. If you drink a lot, your body up- and downscales certain receptors that make you less prone to the effects of a drug.
That's true for all drugs btw, not just alcohol.

I usually don't feel shitty the day after, but today I feel pretty bad. Am 21 now. How old where you guys when the hangovers started getting bad?
>>37428582
They don't get worse your tolerance is just higher so just drink more to get that same 'high'. Just like any other drug.

You shouldn't be drinking alcohol in the first place... going to the doctor is pointless. You're feeling his pulse doesn't mean jack shit either.
If he wants better alcohol tollerancr than he needs to drink more often. It also varies from day to day how quickly people can feel sick from alcohol.

Lily? Babe, is that you?
>>37427838
Alcohol is a drug and like with most drugs exposure creates resistance
That said I'm a vodka drinker when I drink but wine makes me feel sick too
There is a difference between being beer drunk, wine drunk and vodka drunk, some people handle some types of drunk better or worse then others
The idea that alcohol tolerance and cardio goes hand in hand is batshit ridiculous
