How much cardio should I aim for? 30 minutes a day?
>>
>>37383812
30min HITT 3x per week is all you need. Assuming

you're on a proper cut diet, and goal is to lose

bodyfat

Hurt my wrist saving a penalty a month ago just when I first started lifting, but it has yet to heal and it still hurts when I try to lift/squeeze things. Should I take a break from lifting and start doing cardio in order to lose weight or should I just keep lifting?
>>
So my routing is like this
A - SL
B - 20in HIIT
C - rest
My routine is the following
ABABABC
Is my routine ok? Will HIIT affect my gains (I want muscley legs) considering I do squats on A and B days? Advice?

Just started /fit/ live now.

Already read the sticky but still needs some help.

Im about to buy a bar for curls and benchpresses (Im on a budget, so I need one that can do the most exercises with it), but not sure what should a get it: 1,20 cm, 1,60cm, or 1,80.

Olimpic bars (2,20 cm long) are way above what I can pay for it.

If someone could enlight me.
>>
>>37384744
high test are thick chicks varying from girls with wide hips up to proper manatees.

low test is basically the opposite.
>>
>>37384714
Where exactly do you feel the pain? I once fell and hurt my wrist that way, and touching my wrist I felt a bump in picrel.
What I did is boils water with oregano (pizza herb?) And dip a cloth and rub my arm with it, with hot water. Gently.
Eventually the bump decreased and dissapeared and I don't feel pain anymore
Sorry for bad english

You pay for quality and durability. Get Olympic bar.

Anyone ever find sauce?
>>
>>37384775
learn to decimal first and then you can be fit.
>>
>>37384813
That is really not an option.
In brazil, they are charging 1000% more on the olimpic than on the other with 180cm.

I have to work on a budget.
>>
>>37384796
sooo... your whole wrist?
>>
>>37384830
It was a little bit up, I suck at editing pics on my phone
>>
>>37384813
By the way, its just a bar.
What can happen to it if I buy one that is not olimpic?

I doubt it would bend that much since it will take about 6 months for me to squat 120~160kg.

Benchpressing them, it will have a much lighter weight on it.

After a long time off from squatting due to work complications, I've started taking legs more seriously again.

After squatting relatively heavy (for myself) last week, my outer thigh/hip area started to hurt. Today I tried squatting again and while it was still easy to move the weight, the pain was more intense.

I try to squat full ROM, btw.

Pain is in pic related area, what should I do? I tried stretching the hips and doing hip abduction afterwards.
>>
>>37384825
If you're going to buy equipment go with Olympic grade however, you're on a budget.

You can do plenty without a bar or weights. Water jugs filled with sand work well. Get creative while you save money for the good stuff.
>>
>>37383729
What does OHP provide over the seated variation that makes it the "king" shoulder exercise?
>>
>>37384885
I guess if you need more affordable shit in the meantime, it won't be that bad getting a cheaper bar.

Just make sure you have a more rounded, full body routine than bench squats and curls. Do OHP, rows, etc.
>>
>>37384785
>>37384796
Basically, on the other side of where you circled on the picture. It hurt like a bitch when it happened, and im pretty sure it was a sprain. Its been around 3 weeks to a month and im still feeling pain when I use it to lift things or put some pressure on it (like using it to support my body when I stand up).
>>
>>37384809
I need all the help I can get. Thanks mate.
>>
>>37384898
sports hernias are incredibly common and almost any athlete or lifter gets them at some point.
most don't even notice, it's just a tear in the muscle. down some anti inflammatory meds tomorrow morning try to gently do a body weight squat.
If you have pain anywhere from your groin to your hip.
Safe to assume you've torn a muscle.

Yep.
My intention as a begginner will probably be OHPs, squats (if I can find an affordable rack or ask to someone to do it for me) benchpresses and curls.

Not much more than that because not only Im on a budget, Im weak as fuck.
>>
>>37384909
IMO, I think it's recommend because it's more manly. It requires more stabilization. Think that's really it. I do personally think that the ROM is easier to achieve due to your head not being in the way, though.
>>
>>37384898
You should stretch all of the muscle groups in your legs before and after workouts.

You might have developed acute tendonitis which typically treated by stretching.

Not real sure in your case but in my experience it's been tight glutes that cause that kind of pain. Stretching always cured the problem.
>>
>>37384909
I've always heard when you do it seated it puts a lot of stress on your low back once you get into high weight, but standing also helped me a lot with my balance for other lifts, mostly squat. May have just been a placebo but I stopped moving as much.
>>
I've been dieting + doing cardio, recovering from my fatness, and I'm gonna start lifting soon
The thing is, I wanna start ss or the stripped 5x5, but growing I played soccer and lacrosse and was a good sprinter, even as a fatty, and as a result I have fairly strong and shapely legs. Idk why my legs never got that fat but they look pretty good. I'm wondering if I can go light on the legs to start with or if that'll fuck up everything. I'm definitely going to work on them, but I'm considering skipping them for a bit or working on them a lot less then is recommended
>>
>>37384945
There's no groin pain at all.

It hurts the outside of my hips if I stand up from a seated position or when doing a bw squat.

I also feel it if I flex my quads at all.

>>37384961
I'll have to try stretching more. I used to be really good about it but I've neglected it more recently.

Thanks.
>>
>>37384936
Don't lift, I noticed doing workouts like the bench press worsens the pain. Go to a physiotherapist and it should heal withing two weeks.
>>
>>37385016
Definitely do the stretching.

If ever the stretching comes with a sharp pain then you've likely got a tear & need to take it easy for a few weeks.

My 1RM is 305 to parallel; I've never had any pain or drive issues with it. Just looks fucked I guess
>>
So I have fucked up my shoulders due to poor form. Just started lifting two months ago and now my shoulders ache every time my push day comes around. Specifically shoulder workouts. Chest workouts are fine and no pain stems from those. So now I have to change my routine and add a lot of stretching and light weight workouts to train my shoulders to health and add double the back workouts to chest workouts considering I never have to begin with. Now that I'll be switching it up, should I continue to advance on weight elsewhere even though I won't be on my shoulders?
>>
>>37386025
Don't worry about advancing in weight else where. I've had two big injuries (> two weeks recovery) from lifting and the only thing that helped me is doing the exercises that hurt me with low weight to regain strength in those areas.

If your shoulder still hurts after a couple weeks, go see a doctor before you reck yourself.

Okay so I just did a quick walk to gauge my walking speed using a phone app. I apparently did 0.73 miles (around my block) in 11:32. I can pretty much confirm those to be true from sources outside the app. It means I was walking at 3.7mph.

My problem is that the same app claims that means I burned 242 calories. That seemed ridiculous so I checked on a walking site. I put the route and my speed in and it said I'd burn about 80 calories.

So now I'm just confused.
>>
>>37386072
All exercise calculators are crapshoots at best.

You can find averages but you will never get an exact number for calories burned. The best thing to do is adjust exercise when you plateau on weight loss/weight gain, not adjust food based on calories burned.
>>
>>37385206
Yeah, you can build a good one out of plywood and horse stall mats for under $140
>>
>>37384885
kek you think some shitty bar will endure 120squat? my gym just bought normal 220cm bars and they bent first time we squatted on em not even that hard 140+ plus 6 months for squatting on that goal is preety fast unless you are a fatass
>>
>>37384945
nigga you stupid?
>>37384898
dude just stretch its your hip flexors you either sit for a long time priot to workout or have really tight flexors, i have to stretch em a lot before i squat

its normal but make sure you warm up etc(sometimes the pain goes away after like half sets of squats for me )
>>
Is this a good routine lads?

3 sets of:
>10 push-ups
>10 flys
>10 dumbbell presses
>10 crunches
>10 Lat pull downs
>10 triceps pull downs
>10 dumbbell bicep curls
>10 leg presses

Is this ok? Should I be incorporating any barbell lifts? Also, should I do the crunches and push-ups till I can't do them anymore or just do 10 reps?
>>
>>37386303
160 pounds here.

I dont know. LIke I said, Im totally weak. Of course I intend to get stronger, but still, a bar bending that easily?

Isnt these things made of steel?
>>
Am I able to gain mass even though I do 30min cardio?
>>
>>37386416
Read the sticky you incompetent faggot
>>
>>37386417
yeah but only quality steel bends and then go back to its previous shape, shitty steel bends and stays that way especially that stiff steel

well it took me more than that to get 100kg even unless you are going to do those fagets low bar squats
>>
>>37386416
>10 reps of body weight

>>
>>37386484

>>
if i'm bulking, will drinking soda before bed help me gain weight?
>>
>>37386555
Not the right kind of weight. Sugar without the ability to burn it off goes directly as fat. You'll inevitably burn that fat off if youre at a deficit, but at a surplus it juat gets put dorectly as fat
>>
>>37386450
Yes, just adjust calories to eat at maintenance or slightly (\<200 calories over) above maintenance.

Cardio doesn't kill gains, it is a major boost to overall health.
>>
>>37384796
go see a doctor, it could be fractured.

if not, start doing rehab exercises.

>>
Is cardio the best method for getting cut, before starting weights?
>>
>>37389582
>before starting weights
One of the worst mistakes you can possibly make.
There's been done so much research on this that it's not even funny. If you want to lose weight, resistance training beats cardio every time. One of the reasons for this is that trying to increase your energy expenditure by exercising is terribly inefficient - It works but not by a lot. As the saying goes, you can't outrun a bad diet. Lifting however, doesn't just burn calories while you do it, but also afterwards through EPOC (afterburn), and most importantly, building lean mass directly increases your basal metabolic rate, effectively making you burn more calories even while just sitting around.

Thanks for the responses, I had a friend who a /fit/ type of guy who would let me workout with him at his home gym, or the one he went to showing me all the exercises, supplements types, etc. Getting me /fit/ was his personal project since, but has been deployed for a while now, and I haven't been able to retain much.

I've made some progress though since at my heaviest I was around 220, but am now at 173-175.

Will I ever lose my virginity?

Whenever I lift up my barbell it starts unscrewing itself a little. I have to re-tighten the weights every time I'm done with a set.

Is this normal or is the bar I bought just utter shit (It was relatively cheap)

You get what you pay for. Many things you can get for cheap, but never skimp on the barbell.
